| empireofthedog's Full Review: Miss Elle's Homesick Bar & Grill |
I loved Miss Elle's Homesick Bar and Grill from the very first sip of my very first Cosmopolitan there. I don't know what inclined me to order one, but what a treat. A big glass with a FRESH FRUIT Juice cosmo. This was no clear red bitter drink in a shrimpy martini glass. It was a brilliant translucent pink-almost opalescent. As I sat in the white lattice atrium in the back room, I could have sworn it was New Orleans and it was a balmy summer day. Truly I had just a touch of frostbite from waiting outside in the bitter cold.
I should run on to the food now. The food is VERY homestyle, as in corn breads and sweet breads on the side. Lots of "sides" like, corn, mashed potatoes, spinach, etc. Thick, rich and ooey. THe dishes are not the "freshest" as far as a "california cuisine" sort of thing.
I had a chicken cutlet that was a bit prepackaged seeming, but my side of spinach was warm and yummy if not all that different from Boston Market.
There is a choice of dishes such as a a couple of your standard salads, some pastas, some sandwiches, chicken, hamburger and some other standards.
But OH! do get the Cosmopolitan and have a seat in the back for a bit.
You might come for the food, but you'll come back for the Cosmos.
