| BOWLINGSTUD's Full Review: Morich Labyrinth Bowling Ball |
I drilled this ball for a right handed bowler that, aside from his 220 average, doesn't have much of a hook. When he bought this ball, he knew it wouldn't be the biggest hooker on the market nor the perfect ball for every condition. He bought it to gain some consistency with regards to ball reaction. This bowler has a medium track with decent ball speed, a few revs, and not much in the axis rotation department.
The Ball
The 16 pound ball had a pin between 2 and 3" out, and had 2.8 ounces of top weight. We decided to drill it for maximum early revs, maximum forward roll, and maximum track flare.
The Drilling Specs
The pin placement was 3 3/8" from his positive axis point and 2" left of the vertical axis line. The mass bias was 1" to the right of the vertical axis line, and was also 3 3/8" away from the positive axis point. The center of gravity ended up just above the bowler's midline about 1 1/4" left of the positive axis point.
The Reaction
Although not as much hook as I had anticipated, it didn't lack in the hook department. The ball did exactly what we wanted: it gave him some extra revs that he normally didn't have. What surprised me about it's reaction was it's consistency. He decided to leave the ball at it's dull factory condition, but it didn't instantly want to dive left. The ball left his hand and began revving up around the area just past the arrows and right before our guardian strip ends. It reacts with a very smooth arc all the way "through" the pins. It didn't explode the pins, but it certainly had power in it's punch.
Thoughts
I'm glad to see Mo Pinel finally have his own company. He will be able to bring more technological breakthroughs in a much shorter time period. Keep your eye on the MoRich ball company. I expect their product to not only continuously improve, but to also set the standard for modern ball technology.
Overall
I think this ball is a very good buy for a straighter player looking for a ball that will be consistent all the way to the end of the lane. It is not jumpy, and not explosive, but it is slow, consistent and powerful. If it were to have a spokesperson, I would have to say George Foreman. Not explosive, but powerful.
