This cd is far from a schlep...

Me being a fan since 97's SCIENCE, I myself had a hard time with the Funk/Metal transition into poprock radio friendly crap (ie; the vortex Crow;Left;Murder), I still thought this was a great album. I didnt respect their mellowed progression, but their talent is undeniable...I do think this is worth 8 bucks (brand new anyways.)

Like I said... I agree to a certain degree lamb, but I wouldnt have rated it a one star. I've been trying to post my review of this for months. PErhaps itll make it one day lol...

You know, I really liked Morning View, which came out when I was in high school, so I bought this album when it was released. It goes to show how bland it is in that when you were mentioning various songs, despite the fact that I listened to the album several times, I couldn't remember what they sounded like at all. Fair assessment, I think.

Funny how strongly we differ on this one. This is probably one of my favorite mainstream rock albums, like, ever. But I can see your frustration. I hated most of these songs the first time I heard them. I guess you and I just listen for different things, and I uncovered a lot of stuff in the lyrics and different musical bits later on that really appealed to me.

Heh, I just saw this CD in the $8 bin at WM yesterday and almost picked it up. Lucky for me, not only do I save $8 but then I have the decision backed up by this fine review. Great week I'm having!

Incubus really just has never connected...though, I can understand the use of a burner on a band like this.

Thanks, Paul, for your comment.

You know, a ton of people have suggested I get SCIENCE. I won't actively seek it out, but if I see it randomly used somewhere I might just pick it up...

that was quite amusing, i think i have distanced myself enough from the band to say that ACLOTM is rather boring, this album ain't that bad though, i like quite few tracks on it despite how cheesy they are.

well, if you ever feel like giving them another chance, get SCIENCE, that has what this album is missing, maybe even to much for some.

nice job

Incubus have let me down time after time. Personally I hate "A Crow Left of the Murder" more because they built it up with that explosive single, and seemingly equally potent video (which the more I watch is just simplistic political symbolism, with a glossy coat of grit and scenes of Hitler dancing), and ended up creating what sounds like a poor man's "American Idiot." At least Incubus were honest when it came time for this, and still, they could be a lot worse. Well done lambchops....Shelly....Ms. T...sorry, I have no idea what the hell I'm supposed to call anyone on this site.

I didn't care a whole lot for this release, either. I didn't think the songs were terrible, but did think that they meandered. There are a handful of tracks here that I do actually enjoy, however. Personally, I feel that lately they've been trying to expand what they do and fail at it.

Excellent review, and I too agree, Incubus has a generic feel at times, but there are a few choice cuts on the Morning View.

I actually can handle this album a lot better than A Crow Left Of The Murder, yet I sense that you find Morning View even more repulsive. I happen to like Drive and Mexico, but I do agree that there's some throwaways on here. In small doses, Incubus works. Thus, the CD burner goes to good use for them.

Ciao,
