Pros: removes many spots/stains
Cons: must rub well for best effect, may transfer to clothes (first few days after application)
Aloha! I am writing about Mothers Leather Cleaner. This product does what is is supposed to do and does it well. This product may be used alone but it actually works best if followed with Mothers Leather Conditioner.
This is the procedure I follow to clean my seats. First, I always vacuum my seats before I begin to use the cleaner. This way you will not be rubbing any grit into your leather. Next I apply the cleaner. You must shake the bottle well before use. I just spray it onto a cotton rag (an old terry sock turned inside out and washed first works well) and start rubbing. Sometimes I spray it directly onto a spot. It doesn't really matter, as long as you rub well.
If you are doing the entire car, you will get a workout. Don't be surprised if you see perspiration from your forehead dripping onto your seats. The results, however, will be worth it. I usually only have to do this about two or three times a year. You do not have to use a lot of the cleaner. In fact I still have almost half a bottle left, even though I purchased it about three and half years ago, when I bought my used car!
This product also acts as a light conditioner, so you could end your leather care at this step. For the best effect, you should follow the cleaning with Mothers Leather Conditioner. This product will soften your leather even more. I am also writing a review for Mothers Conditioner.
What I like about this product is that it doesn't change the color of your leather. It actually does darken a little while you are using the product but after a while, the normal color of your leather should return.
I also like the smell of this product. It has a very mild scent which I find pleasing.
Although this product is found in the automotive section of Epinions (as well as in the store), it will work on all your leather goods. The label says that you can use it for jackets, furniture, shoes, purses and reptile skins. I have also used it on my leather portfolio and it has worked well on that.
The only drawbacks that I see is that it does require effort to use and it does leave a slightly greasy residue which may make the seat of your pants look shiny. After a few days of use, your seat will return to normal.
