Being a struggling keyboardist musician you learn to compensate for "the best equipment available to the best sound at the least expensive price, especially when it entails a modest bank account and the Mrs. hovering over the finances like a hawk bearing down on her prey.
After countless months of diverting and scrounging enough necessary funds, I opted to replace my old bewildered Roland keyboard amplifier with a Motion Sound KeyPro KP-200S amplifier. Yes, after countless hours of drooling over numerous musical equipment website pages of the Motion Sound KP-200S, which boast two(2)stereo 10 inch Eminence Beta 250 watt RMS speakers, I finally felt the elated anticipation of a visit from the FedEx delivery van.
Upon opening the box containing my KP-200S I observed a more compact but, better structured similarity of my predecessor. O.K., I thought to myself, after all it is stereo, so the speaker cabinet does not have to be as large as the Roland's. Hurriedly, I disassembled the tired old Roland and replaced it with the new blood of the Motion Sound connecting three (3)high profile synthesizer/workstations that would virtually sound good playing through a tin can and string. A throw of the switch and euphoria? No. Disappointment! After reading review after countless review on the Motion Sound KP-200S and it's major benefits of incomparable,unsurpassed stereo speaker sound I was, to say the least, dismayed. In fact, there definitely wasn't enough exhilaration to warrant the additional $400.00-$500.000 expense of replacing the elder Roland with a new Roland KC-550.
The Motion Sound KP-200S, however, does encompass a plethora of inputs and additional features. Features which consists of expand control, bass, midrange and treble adjustments and a setting referred to as "click control" which enables the musician to "cue" from incoming sources. Unfortunately, in the opinion of this reviewer, these features still DO NOT justify the equipment's exuberant cost. Perhaps the biggest disappointing aspect of this product concerns a feature that the Motion Sound KP-200S does not have but, the Roland does. A headphone jack output. Having a small child that requires an 8:00 pm bedtime,often times I would practice by utilizing the output head phone jack of my "now defunct" Roland. Alas, I would contact Motion Sound customer service and request the purchase of an adapter to allow this feature. NOT!!!! I was rudely advised by customer service that "No, Motion Sound does not offer such a feature nor an adapter" and that "if I wanted to use headphones use the headphone outputs of my keyboards." Simple right? How do you headphone the sound of three keyboards with one pair of headphones? You don't and you don't purchase a Motion Sound KP-200S.
