I bought this phone basically because of the WAP. I chose it over the Nokia 7110 basically because the it was smaller and smarter (I am a sucker for anything silver)
The Timeport weighs in at a featherlite 108grams, a must for someone as lazy as me. It has 100 names and numbers onboard, as well as 100 on the SIM card. It also has voice dialing and VoiceNotes (a 3-minute dictaphone thing). Alltogether a bitsy but beefy package.
The menus are clear, and the navigation is identical to all the other Motorola phones. You can also specify the 9 most frequently used functions to put in a "Quick Access menu", which is the most frequently used menu.
The internet browser is made by a different company to Motorola, but is simple to use and perfect for WAP at the moment.
One of the often vaulted features is the Voice Dialing. If you want a phone that does this, avoid the Timeport: the voice dialling NEVER works. Most of the time it says "Speak Faster" "Speak Slower" "No matches found". The rest of the time it returns the totally wrong number. Besides, it is pretty pointless- you can type in the memory location and it finds it faster.
One thing that would make the Timeport a lot more amusing would be the inclusion of Games (It has none, but no motorola has any at the mo) and some new ringtones. It has only 11 boring ones, but it is redeemed by the Music composer. TIP: when composing a ringtone, have a piano handy...you must enter it usuing musical notes.
Overall, this is an excellent phone: Light, powerfull, robust (mine has been dropped, sat on and soaked) and reliable. The Battery life is fine, but could be longer. The adapter is cool, in that it switches between American and British sockets withing seconds (you flip out some prongs). Its a "phone users phone" not a posers phone, with emphasis on Global usuage over cosmetic features.
