I bought this phone for GBP 149 in August 1999 and run it on the Orange network in the UK. I've used it in dozens of countries around the world.
Pros:
* Triband - awesome being able to use it in the US and in 80+ other countries. This is the ultimate globetrotter phone.
* quite small - when not in a leather case (case adds some bulk and makes it not quite as sexy, unfortunately
* voice dialling - some reviewers have said it's a gimmick, but I find it useful when using the phone handsfree in a car
* voicenotes - useful for recording "things to do" that I think of when driving or don't have a pen to hand. Could do with a little icon that tells you you have a voicenote recorded though.
* comes with personal handsfree kit
* battery lasts for 3-4 days on standby - and with Lithium Ion batteries there's no memory effect.
* solid - has been dropped/kicked/thrown etc and survived (in a leather case)
* great reception anywhere.
Cons:
* the "menu" button sticks up too far and can be pressed inadvertently. The "ok" and "c" buttons are also a little too small given how often they're used
* no autocomplete of words when typing SMS. I love this feature on Nokias I've seen.
* the IR data connectivity seems to be buggy - the phone drops the IR connection to my laptop after between 1 and 5 minutes of use, which drops the connection to my ISP. VERY annoying and I haven't found a fix yet. I'm pretty sure it's the phone as the laptop doesn't do it with other phones.
* no alarm clock - could have done with one of those on a few occasions
* not many ringtones - if you want to be a prat with a silly ringtone.
* no WAP, although the L7389 does have WAP.
Overall - recommended, although these days you may as well get the L7389 with WAP, (even though WAP sucks until 3G networks come along).
