I have similar comments about this phone that other people have. It scratches too easily. I have only had my phone for a year or so and it already looks very worn. The color display on it is very nice. I have pictures of my two kids on my phone and it looks fairly good. The reception quality is okay compared to my old Motorola v60. However it has some major pitfalls that I don't like.

The phone doesn't have a way to recharge off of the USB/data cable port on it. It has to be charged on a separate power only port. My old v60 had this feature which was really nice. that way I only needed to carry one small USB cable. Now with my V188 I've got to carry a USB data cable AND the power adapter in my napsack.

The ringtone volume can't be changed without opening up the phone. With the v188 you have to flip open the phone and go through a couple of menus to adjust the ringtone volume level. With my old v60 I could adjust the ringtone volume with the two outer buttons. This was nice if I was headed to a meeting or if I was going to the movies. I could easily just adjust the ringtone volume level. Now, it takes more effort.

Finally, using the phone to receive incoming faxes through a computer and a USB cable has proven all but impossible. The computer and phone can see an incoming fax coming. But, the phone never picks up the call. With my old v60 I had no problems with this.
