| rottiff's Full Review: Motorola V3620 Cell Phone |
I needed to buy a new cellular as my StarTac 6000 keypad had gone out. So, I bought a Motorola Vader 3620. A couple of things steered me towards this phone:
1) I am disabled and do not have much strength, so the Vader being so small and light was an important feature for me.
2) I have a strap on the front of the cushion I sit on that I keep my wallet, pager and phone. The Vader being only around half of the width of the StarTac at 1.62" wide made it a lot easier to fit everything on the strap.
PROS:
Like I mentioned before the weight and size. It also has caller ID, a built in answering machine that will hold 4 minutes of messages and a button on the top of the phone right next to the antenna that when pushed will allow you to record a message up to 4 minutes long or a conversation for the same duration. This phone although very small, is the clearest phone that I have had or used. The volume control on the Vader is great. I leave it set to one bar up. It can only go one more position lower. When I had my StarTac I always had the volume set to three or four bars up. This phone like other Motorola's has a smart button on the side of the phone that allows a person to search through the 99 number memory and when you get to the name you want to dial, you just push the middle smart button and it dials the call. You can push it again to hang up or just fold the phone closed. Besides of having the choice of ten different rings you can also set it to vibrate or vibrate for three times and then ring. Which is nice if you are in some place where you do not know if you can hear it ring or feel it vibrate. This gives you the ability to have it your way. The display is very easy to read. It has available three battery configurations for up to 3 hours of talk time. I use the extended Lithium battery, which I get 90-110 minutes of talk time and up to 46 hours of stand by.
CONS:
The buttons take a little to get used to. They are made of a hard plastic, so when you go to dial, sometimes your finger will slip off the button when dialing with one hand. The phone does get hot when talking over an hour. The only other thing I do not like is the plastic holster just clip on the bottom and top. So it is not like a StarTac, where the phone would slide into rails, so for me my wife actually made a new holster that works for me. She tried the holster it came with and found she would have to use two hands to get it out without dropping the phone.
OVERALL:
I do not believe anyone can go wrong with this phone. With its size, weight, and design has to make this one of the best phones I have ever had. I have had people ask me what I was doing home because it sounded like I was talking on a landline. The price I paid a few weeks ago was $292 + tax. I do not find this that expensive with all the features you get.
