Sorry, Folks. I hope you are not in the middle of the dinner.
About a month ago, I got a pretty bad cold. After five days of uncomfortable period, I finally went to a convenience store to seek a cold medicine.
My first mistake was that I didn't pick up my ordinal medicine, Tylenol. I read an article at an informational web site, and guessed that Motrin might be a good match with me, which turned out to be wrong.
What Is Motrin IB?
As the product name says, Motrin IB contains Ibuprofen. It works as a pain killer. In other words, Motrin IB relieves you of headache, back pain, muscle ache, fever, and so on.
Its side effects include stomach upset, ulcers, and heart burn. If a stomach problem is your major concern, you should take this medicine with food or milk.
WARNING!: I am not a medical doctor. You should consult with a doctor for more specific information.
What Happened To Me
About 30 min. after I took Motrin IB, my stomach got upset, and I threw up like a bucket. I didn't have even a minute. It happened very drastically. Note that I had some food, mainly French fries, at the same time.
It is possible that Motrin's interaction with greasy food was too much for my stomach. But the bottom line here is I had a serious stomach problem. I personally will never take Motrin IB again. Moreover, I am going to be very careful in taking Ibuprofen in the future.
Some Advice From A Doctor
When I talked about this to my doctor, he gave me some useful advice.
(A) If you had a problem with Motrin, don't take Ibuprofen based medicine. The good pain substitutes are:
1) Entric coated or buffered aspirin
2) Tylenol
3) Aleve (also known as Naproxen)
(B) The way you take above medicine is:
1) For aspirin, take 325 mg tablets. 2-3 tablets for 4 times per day. Not to exceed 11 tablets per day. Decrease or stop taking them, if ringing in ears develops.
2) For Tylenol, take 400 mg 4 times per day. Not to exceed 3200 mg per day.
Again, you should consult with your doctor for more specific and desirable dosage for you.
FINAL REMARKS
Motrin IB is not for me. I will stick around with aspirin and Tylenol, following my doctor's advice.
However, there are definitely some people with whom Motrin IB works very well. If you are still on the stage where you are searching the best fit pain killer, you might want to try this medicine at your own risk.
