| marnica's Full Review: Motrin Ib |
In June of 2000 I had a lateral release done on my knee. This is major surgery with a healing time of about 1 year. After the surgery I was given a prescription for Percocet. I only used the Percocet for about 3 days...I hate the way narcotics make me feel! I started popping 600 mg of Motrin IB on the third day after my surgery and I must say it took care of my pain almost as well as the Percocet (without that lala feeling)
Ibuprofin is the major ingredient in Mortin IB as it is in many other over the counter pain relievers such as Advil. It is a non-steroidal anelgesic which aids in pain relief due to just about anything, headaches, toothaches, muscle pain etc....It is also an anti-inflamatory.
Before my surgery I had been taking prescription doses of Ibuprofen (8oo mg 3 times a day)and needless to say was afraid of the giant hole being burned in my stomach. Now I take 400mg of Motrin when I need to and am not suffering any gastrointestinal side effects. As with any drug, Motrin is not something you should take on a regular basis for a prolonged period of time, because Ibuprofen has the potential to damage your stomach. Motrin is coated so that it shouldn't irritate your stomach unless you have had problems with Ibuprofen in the past. One dose (2 200mg caps) takes about 45 min to really kick in and wears off in about 6 hours.
Why do I chose Motrin over Advil or any of the other OTC Ibuprofen products? It works for me, and that is all the reason I need! One thing to make note of.....Motrin contains Caffine which I never knew until I went to my doctor because I wasn't sleeping at night. I stopped taking Motrin before bed and I am sleeping soundly again.
All in all this is an effective all around pain reliever and anti-inflamatory.
