| CyndiCM's Full Review: Motrin Migraine Pain |
Motrin Migraine Pain in case you are wondering why the label say's pain reliever below the name, and not as part of the name of this OTC medicine? I can answer that for you, it's because it is a pain reliever, it's just not a migraine pain reliever.
I have suffered with migraines since the age of 9. To this day, I will try just about anything to stop the pain. Anyone that suffers with migraines will probably agree with me on this. Maintaining your calm and not becoming upset and crying are very important when dealing with a migraine. This will only increase your pain.
In my own personal experience, my Dr. has had to give me a shot that literally knocks me out. And when I wake up, the pain is gone. That is not always a viable option though. Not everyone has a spouse or reliable child care that can babysit whenever you have a migraine.
On more than one occasion, (usually after recovering from another migraine) I have mentioned to my husband that If more people were sufferers of migraines, then maybe more money could be spent to find a safe, and reliable method of pain relief.
Migraines are unlike any pain I have ever felt before. I have given birth to three children, of which two of the births were completely natural. And even that pain can not compete with a true migraine. I try to explain to people that don't have migraines what the pain feels like. The best example I can give, is that it feels like an elephant is sitting on my head, and my neck feels like it is in a vise-grip. Even then I don't think they understand the level of pain I am talking about.
When you have a migraine, for those of you very, very, very, fortunate people that don't know, the pain and accompanying symptoms are debilitating. I try my best not to move a muscle, even blinking can be agony. I cannot stand light, sound, or smells, I become nauseated, and dizzy. My brain feels like it shuts down, everything stops, everything that is, except the ability to feel pain. Excruciating pain.
That is why when I see something like Motrin Migraine Pain I am skeptical, but like I said, I will try anything to stop the pain.
With regret for myself and all other migraine sufferers, I have to tell you that Motrin Migraine Pain does not have the strength of medicine needed to control migraine pain! At least not my migraine pain anyway, I cannot say that it would not work for you. I have been told that every person responds to medication in various ways, you may get lucky and find relief with Motrin Migraine Pain.
The active ingredient in Motrin Migraine Pain is :
200 mg. of Ibuprofen per caplet
That is it.
Motrin Migraine Pain caplets are white, with black letters that say Motrin IB. The caplets are small, about the size of a Tic-Tac, so they are easy to swallow. However, since they are so little and look a lot like a Tic-Tac, I recommend keeping them in their original child-proof bottle.
There is an Allergy alert associated with Motrin Migraine pain: ibuprofen may cause a severe allergic reaction which may include: hives, facial swelling, asthma,(wheezing), and or shock. If you have ever had an allergic reaction to a fever reducer /pain reliever, then do not use Motrin Migraine Pain.
For pregnant or breast-feeding women ask your Dr. prior to use. When in the last three months of pregnancy it is very, very important for pregnant women to consult with their OB before taking any products that contain ibuprofen. Ibuprofen is a blood thinner, and can cause complications during delivery of your baby.
Children under 18 need to check with their Dr. for the correct dosage amount.
Adults can take 1 or 2 caplets with water. The makers recommend that you take the smallest dosage amount, and that you not take more then 2 caplets in 24 hours. Unless you first consult with your Dr.
In the case of overdose, get medical help or call the poison control center immediately.
This medicine should be kept at a temperature between 68-77 degrees.
