I get crippling migraines. By crippling I mean that I spend the entire time in my bed, with the blinds shut, no noise anywhere in the vicinity, and a pillow stuck over my face until the migraine dissipates. This could take hours and at times could go on for days. Those of you who suffer from migraines know exactly what I am talking about.
Trips to the emergency room are not recommended, nor economical, therefore I have tried numerous over the counter medications when the doctor is not available. I have been told to drink coffee or beverages that contain caffeine. Nine times out of ten I am told to take two aspirins and call the doctor in the morning. Sound familiar. Upon doing these things I turn into a fool buzzing around the house, with an upset stomach, and still no relief from the migraine.
Recently, I found Motrin Migraine sitting on the shelf at the drug store. Moments later I walked out the store with the package, already paid for by the way, and prayed that this would be the one to work.
What is the saying, God hears all of our prayers but some have to go unanswered. This is the case with Motrin Migraine. I still had my migraine after two recommended doses of this medicine. I have tried on other occasions to take this medicine for an average headache and once again received no relief from the pain.
There were a couple of positives about this medication. The first plus is that I did not receive an upset stomach and the other benefit is that I was not buzzing around the house. Since the purpose of the medication is to relief migraines, these two factors really do not mean a thing.
Overall I would have to recommend that people who suffer from migraines continue to take the medications prescribed by their doctors. They may be more costly but at least they provide the relief that is necessary.
