Pros: fun if you don't have to follow the rules of the game
Cons: to many pieces for kids to keep track of.
Let me start by saying, I didn't buy this game and now I know why. My sister gave this game to my son for Christmas. So far we had it put away until now, and holy smokes what a disaster. It's hard enough to have to follow the many many instructions without your child interrupting and taking pieces, and itching to get going on the game.
Needless to say, I ended up putting the whole thing together never reading that it was supposed to gradually be put together. Then I start to read the game rules, finding out that I shouldn't have put this all together already on the board. If you have a child like I have, to even see me start to take it back off the board, he throws a fit. Because he says he didn't even get to play, and can't understand that the way the game goes is to gradually build it.
The game itself seems a little complicated. And for someone like my son who has ADHD he has a hard time with having patience with it.
There are many pieces to the game, and many small pieces. It's wise to supervise this or those pieces could get lost easily. I don't think that kids that are quite able to assemble this by themselves. Some of the pieces can be hard to put together.
Those little mice are so cute, and my son actually had more fun playing with the trap and the mice than actually playing the game. I hope to keep trying with him and teach him how the game really goes. I can only hope he has the patience for it.
