Pros: Good tasting coffee, consistent timer, consistent auto-shut-off.
Cons: Carafe drips on counter. Basket drips on hot plate. Easy to accidentally change the clock.
The Bottom Line: Just too messy. It's just too frustrating to keep cleaning up after it. There are so many options for coffee makers - this shouldn't be one of them.

My Melitta Fast Brew died after about 5 years (not bad, I guess, since everything is disposable these days). Unfortunately, it died on a Sunday of a weekend with a Monday holiday, so I needed a coffee maker for the next day (on work days I get coffee at work), leaving me little time to shop for a good one, or to read reviews. The Target had a big selection of Mr. Coffee, and a single-cup brewer from another brand, so this was my only option.
It's a mess. Every time I pour coffee, I spill on the counter. I've tried pouring very slowly, very quickly, holding the coffee cup up, but nothing stops the drip. The machine then proceeds to drip a couple of drops onto the hot plate while I'm struggling with the carafe, leaving me with a burned coffee smell, and about 2 minutes of an annoying sizzling noise. I keep a wet towel next to the coffee machine to wipe up the counter and the hot plate EVERY TIME I POUR A CUP!
On the other hand, the clock keeps decent time (unless the power goes out), so the timer function works well. But on the other, other hand, it's very easy to push the clock setting buttons to screw up the time. The auto-shut-off has saved me a few times. It consistently turns off after 2 hours.
After all this, I think it makes a good tasting cup of coffee. I use a gold foil filter instead of paper, and I think that helps, but I've always use one of these.
Finally, I became very used to the speed of my dead Melitta Fast Brew. The Mr. Coffee probably brews at normal speed, so I shouldn't complain, but it's slower than my old machine.
