We bought this to replace two coffee makers, one stopped working the other wouldn't close properly.

This is a very basic basket filter coffee maker, it has two water windows so that you can see how much water is in the reservoir, an easily removable basket, and a single large lid that covers both the reservoir and the basket. This means you have to have enough clearance to fully open to fill with water - the lid is in essence the same as the footprint. The dimensions are 12.3" x 13.9" x 9.4". It has a light to indicate when the unit is on - unlike some coffee makers which don't.
It is easy to use, however, make sure you don't exceed the 12-cups of water when filling the reservoir because there are two holes in the back of the unit just above the 12-cup line - not sure what purpose they serve, but if you overfill the water will flow out through there.
It's supposed to be pause and serve, but don't count on that, better to wait until it finishes brewing otherwise coffee will be dripping all over the place - this feature doesn't work. It seems as if the spring is just too loose to register a difference between when the carafe is there and when it isn't.
Occasionally I'll get ground coffee pieces in my cup, but that seems more to be due to the side of the paper filter falling on top of the ground coffee - best to moisten the filter with water as soon as you put it in to prevent this happening.
