green's Full Review: MSR Whisperlite Shaker Jet Backpacking Stove
This stove is really quite far from perfect. It is rather unstable, I know I've dumped a load of hot water once or twice. It has almost no heat modulation so cooking becomes an interesting challange.
Despite these flaws you really can't not love this stove. It would be like saying you don't love your mother (by love I mean the tradtional apple pie sort of love, not Freuds Oedipal type of mother love) Most of us have found out our mothers aren't perfect, but very few of us would trade in for another model.
The Whisperlite is a simple and reliavble stove, it is light and fuel efficient. Now that they've added the shaker jet feature you never have to clean it. And like your mother, your whisperlite will always be there for you, especailly in the hard times. An if there is a problem it is completely field servicable, and if you can't find the really easy to find parts, you could probaly fabricate what you need MacGyver style with a trip to the hardware store.
Reviewing this stove is sort of like reviewing a spoon, all that matters is that it works, this stove works
