Pros: They really do freshen and deodorize, small, variety of uses
When my son-in-law was deployed, my daughter and granddaughter came back home for six months. I didn't know what baby items to buy for a short term situation as this, so I made some concessions.
Instead of spending a lot of money on a Diaper Genie (and expensive refills), I purchased an inexpensive waste basket with a flip top lid to use as our diaper pail. We line it with inexpensive garbage bags we purchase at Costco, and I use Arm & Hammer Munchkin Nursery Fresheners to keep it smelling nice.
I was skeptical when I saw the package of five & Hammer Munchkin Nursery Fresheners at my local Target store. At six dollars a package, I felt they were a bit expensive, but if they worked for 90 days like they claim, the package would last me more than a year, more than adequate for my needs.
Arm & Hammer Munchkin Nursery Fresheners are a natural way to deodorize many items in the home. In fact, the package states there are "Over 100 uses!". Suggestions include "Diaper bags, diaper pails, hampers, changing tables and more".
The package I purchased contains baking soda with a lavender scent added. Arm & Hammer claims their Munchkin Nursery Fresheners deliver "Natural odor elimination from baking soda", and they truly do work.
Arm & Hammer Munchkin Nursery Fresheners are small disc shaped fresheners that measure a mere two inches in diameter, and are about 5/8 inches thick. The familiar Arm & Hammer logo is in the center of each disc, and each one has a different color. Each disc is supposed to last for 90 days, or until they are no longer effective.
The back of the package says these are made of all new materials and list polyester, baking soda and fragrance. When I spoke with a company representative she told me these are non-toxic fresheners, but she could not tell me if the lavender fragrance is a synthetic fragrance or a natural fragrance from lavender essential oil.
However, they do smell like real lavender, and they are doing an excellent job of freshening our diaper pail. When I lift the lid on the diaper pail I don't smell any foul odors, just a mild lavender scent that is not at all overwhelming.
I love these so much that I have placed one on the dresser in our nursery, because this room can start to smell stale over time, and our baby has allergies so I can't open the window to air out the room.
The Arm & Hammer Munchkin Nursery Fresheners work great! I am pleased to recommend this product to anyone looking for an easy and natural way to freshen an area.
