Last summer while shopping for our three week driving vacation from New York to Texas, I noticed a splash of color in the cleaning products aisle. Upon further inspection I found that the package contained Munchkin Arm and Hammer Nursery Fresheners, but since my children are teenagers, I put it back on the shelf since I no longer had a nursery to freshen. A few days later, I saw them again in the store and it dawned on me that these might keep our car fresh during the long trip.
The package contains five 2" in diameter deodorizing discs, each with the Arm & Hammer logo on the white top and a yellow, orange, light blue, light green or purple bottom. They contain a combination of baking soda and lavender, so that they are pleasantly scented, and do a good job of absorbing any not so pleasant odors that may be in the surrounding air. Keep these out of the reach of children, especially since their small size and bright colors would be attractive to them.
Before leaving, I placed one disc in the front console and another at the opposite end by the liftgate of our SUV. On our trip, two adults and two teenagers spent many hours in that car, various food items were consumed, and this was all during a major summer heatwave, so the car was often sitting in the extremely hot sun. Not once did we get into the car and notice an offensive smell, which I believe is thanks to these small deodorizing discs.
I was originally worried that the lavendar inside these discs would be overpowering after being left in a closed car, but that was not the case. Their smell was not noticeable, unless you picked it up and put it close to your nose.
The directions state that these fresheners should be replaced every ninety days or so, but seven months after I placed two in my car, they still have a fresh scent. If you are are using them in an extremely smelly area such as a diaper pail, you may need to replace them more often.
My daughter placed one of these fresheners in her gym locker and I used one in a garbage pail that my children throw snack wrappers in, but which does not get used daily. These are intended for use in small place and they do their job well.
It would be nice to have double sided tape on the back so that it could be attached to the inside of a garbage can, or whatever area that you wanted to freshen, but this lack of adhesive is the only "con" I have about this product.
I paid about seven dollars for this package of five Munchkin Arm and Hammer Nursery Fresheners and I feel that I got my money's worth. They may have been intended for use in a baby's room, but they are useful in many other places.
