therookie's Full Review: Murad Acne Complex Starter Kit
I saw the infomercial on TV advertising for this stuff and heard about all the people who got amazing, clear skin by using this stuff. I liked the fact that is was "natural" and "soothing". So I ordered it. I wish I never had.
I've dealt with moderate acne for a few years now. I occasionally have trouble with cystic acne and almost always have breakouts on my chin and cheeks. If you have similar troubles, DO NOT USE MURAD!!!! I've been using the product for a little over a week and my skin is twice as bad as it was when I started. At first I liked the cleanser, but my skin started to react very badly to the Salicylic acid. The "Exfoliating Acne Gel" is horrible. It stings and feels very prickly under your skin. I think this is what is causing all the damage. At first I thought it was just the "purging" that the instructional pamphlet mentioned, but the stinging and discomfort can't be normal. So I have stopped using the product.
The only thing really worth the while is the moisturizer. It feels very nice and light. But the regimen as a whole has been a disaster. I just hope that my skin will soon recover from the effects of Murad.
Before dishing out the money for the Murad Acne Complex kit, I would suggest that you go to Acne.org and read up on the Clear Skin Regimen. Dan, who created the website, has suffered with acne for years and he is simply sharing a regimen that he has developed using OTC stuff like benzoyl peroxide (the only thing that has ever really worked for me). Dan isn't out to make a profit just share this regimen he has developed. The success stories are amazing and numerous.
