Pros: Gel like consistency
Cons: Made me break out
The Bottom Line: I'd rather not spend that much money for a lotion that encourages more breakouts!

| st3rlite's Full Review: Murad Acne Prone Skin Formula |
I stumbled across Murad about a year ago whilst experiencing a painful breakout period (nothing uncommon to me!). In my desperation I wondered into a beauty salon, my very first ever trip! I was given a free consultation and had my skin assessed. Then the beautician recommended I use the Murad range of products. Fair enough I thought, let's give it a go....
Acne Prone Formula aka Blemish Prone Formula
In Australia, Murad markets the Acne Prone Skin Formula as Blemish Prone Skin Formula,.. same stuff under a slightly different name.
What is it? And what's in it?
The formula is a clear gel treatment designed to be used all over the face to clear problem skin. Murad describes it as follows:-
Patented, exfoliating gel manages acne and problem skin.
* Retinol controls breakouts
* Salicylic Acid hels prevent clogged pores
* Hydrogen Peroxide purifies
* Vitamin K, Zinc and Arnica reduce redness and inflammation
How do you use it
The beautician told me to apply a thin layer all over acne prone areas, which happens to be my entire face... after cleansing. After applying the formula, use a moisturiser (I was recommended the Murad Skin Perfecting Moisturiser).
She also told me that at first I should use it once every two days, to allow my skin to ease into the treatment.
My experiences
So I did just as I was told, and applied the treatment once every two days for about two weeks. It was my first time using an all over salicylic acid product. My sensitive skin didn't feel irritated or turn red or itchy surprisingly. But I noticed after a few days whiteheads and tiny bumps were popping out everywhere.
I went back to the salon and asked them whether this was normal. They advised me that the treatment was working and was purging my skin of the impurities!!
I gave it a few more days and then gave up. I was thinking I'd rather leave the impurities inside rather than look like this! The bumps were multiplying and looked really awful and felt very rough!
For me, an acne treatment is supposed to heal and prevent acne, not encourage more acne!! And for the price, I definately didn't want worse skin as a result.
