| daventray's Full Review: Musical Lights 'N Sounds Gym |
This last Christmas was our son's first and Santa brought him this awesome gym! At the time he was three weeks old and it really didn't hold his attention for very long. Now he is eight weeks old and loves to lay under the adjustable barn shaped gym.
There are two settings on the Musical lights'n sound gym. One is for infants (birth and up) which plays continuously and flashes a series of lights that really excite my son! The second setting is more interactive and requires the baby to reach for the dangling toys. When he does achieve touching the toys the gym rewards him with flashing lights and one song. As soon as that song ends the lights stop and the baby needs to activate the toy again.
Some of the disadvantages of this toy is that on the interactive setting the music and lights only come on if the hanging toy is pushed back. So, if the child gets his hand behind the toy and pulls it forward, even though he did reach and move it, the gym doesn't play. I think that in order for infants to really be rewarded for their achievements it should come on when moved in either direction.
My son loves to laying under the gym and they great thing is that it fits inside his Pack and Play which keeps him off of the floor on colder days.
The Musical Lights'n Sound Gym also comes apart easily by pulling the two yellow tabs on each leg. This makes it easy to pop in the trunk on a trip to grandma's house.
