| sunstreeks's Full Review: My First Care Bear Plush: Love A Lot Bear |
When I was little Care Bears were very popular. How surprised was I that just in the past year or 2 theyve really made a comeback like Strawberry Shortcake and My Little Ponys. I think its really neat that the toys I once loved I can now give to my daughter.
Although the My First Care Bear is recommended for ages 3 and up I had to have it for my little Allys first Christmas. I bought the Love A Lot Bear because looking back at pictures I saw many of my self caring around that same bear. Obviously at only 1 ½ months she just wasnt ready for it other than to look at as mommy showed it too here. In just the last week or so shes really taken an interest in her bright pink terry cloth feeling body with bright pink hearts on its tummy. Actually most of her interest is in the hands and feet which seem to find themselves covered in drool from her trying to fit them in her mouth.
She loves when I move the bear around her so that she can follow it with her eyes and thinks its the greatest thing when I shake it and she hears the chime rattle inside the tummy make noise. It does still startle her sometimes when she makes the rattling noise on her own, but I think it really helps her start to learn cause and effect.
The Care Bear it self is 11 inches tall and only ¼ of a pound so its light weight enough for her to pick up with both hands, another new trick shes figured out she could do just recently. Its soft to the touch made the outside body being made with what I believe to be terry cloth.
The facial features, bottom of feet, small heart on lower back (i.e. Care Bear butt), and tummy design is embroidered on, no beads for eyes and nose like some stuffed toys. While Im sure this toy is plenty safe for older kids, it has a small amount of nylon hair on top of its head about an inch long. I cut it off of ours because I didnt want to risk her getting any in her mouth and choking. It does seem to pull out easily as well.
It can be be surface washed with a damp towel. Not to go in the clothes washer.
My First Care Bears also come in these characters.

Like everything else I seem to buy ours came from Target. I havent really paid attention at any other stores for these so Im unsure who else carries them. We paid $9.99 for ours.
