My K-Cup is a party pooper.

Pros:Can use my own coffee beans
Cons:Messy. Very messy.
The Bottom Line: Works well with certain models, but it totally defeats the purpose of a K-cup.
One of the alluring aspects of the Keurig is the luxury of picking a special flavor made to order. The pampering process does not include the extra steps of measuring coffee, cleaning up the mess, and sticking with the same old flavor that I have day in and day out. The My K-cup process is a huge pain.
In order to use this, the black K-cup Portion Pack Holder must be removed from the brewer. The coffee grounds are added to the washable filter, the lid is secured and then it is placed into the canister of the Keurig. After brewing, the filter is extremely hot to the touch so either the fingers get burned or there is a cooling off period before making the next drink. We have one for each person. I think it is dishwasher safe, but it’s so small and frequently used it is only hand washed here. It is hard to get the coffee stain off the plastic part of the filter holder, very hard to get the tiny grooved areas on the underside of the lid clean, and time consuming to get the filter dry before putting it away.
Wet coffee is difficult to get out of the little filter especially since the grounds are piping hot. This makes a huge mess and some grounds are inevitably washed down the drain. Coffee grounds have been known to clog up plumbing, destroy garbage disposals and clog up the septic tank so I try to avoid getting them in the sink. We recycle our grounds as fertilizer for the garden; it’s a little disturbing how many grounds we accumulate each week from a tiny little cup.
I started off with an older basic Keurig model and the My K-cup did not work with it. It leaked everywhere. Once we upgraded the Keurig the My K-cup worked perfectly every single time. I tried making tea by putting the tea leaves in the My K-cup and it made a tremendously weak cup of tea.
I’ve seen these at any store that carries Keurig brewers and usually retail for around $20. I received one with my Keurig Brewer and also purchased an additional one online at Amazon for a lot less than I’ve seen in the stores.
It’s a bit of a set back as far as time goes, but it will definitely save money in the long run. Additionally, there are only a few brands and blends available for the Keurig. The My K-cup Filter allows any favorite coffee blend to be enjoyed in the Keurig. Perhaps a better alternative is to keep using coffee grounds in the regular auto-drip coffee pot.
