| zoesmama's Full Review: Mycocide NS Antimicrobial Nail Solution |
I began seeing a podiatrist for toenail fungus about 2 months ago. Upon his advice I began to immediately use Mycocide Antimicrobial Nail Solution. I purchased a Medium Bristle toothbrush (I was told to purchase a hard bristle toothbrush, but I could not find one) and began the daily journey of scrubbing my toenails twice a day and then applying the Mycocide to all toenails once they were clean and dry. He also recommended that I take oral Lamisil tablets along with using the Mycocide to cure the infection "from the inside and outside". Well, I had read and done enough research to know that I did not want to take the Lamisil tablets due to all of their horrible side affects. I decided to just use the Mycocide alone for a few weeks and not fill the Lamisil prescription and see what happened. Well, much to my delight, in just two weeks, I noticed a change in my toenails! The whiteness and ridges started to slowly go away and I was delighted! Now at about 6 weeks of use, my 4 smaller toenails on each foot are really starting to come in pink and healthy again with little signs of remaining fungus except at the very tips of one or two. Only a small portion of my big toenails (that were affected the worst) still look rather unhealthy, but just toward the top, so I know they too are starting to grow out. In the beginning of treatment, I was embarrassed to go without shoes and I would not wear flip flops or sandals in public due to my embarrassment of how ugly my toenails looked. Now I am able to wear open toed shoes and not die of embarrassment. I even have painted my toenails a few times since treatment when I was going somewhere special and I wanted my toenails to look pretty. The trick is to remove the polish in a short period of time and re-treat with Mycocide. I tended to wear toenail polish all of the time and repaint over it all summer. I was told this could have contributed to the fungus in the first place. So I do not recommend keeping your toenails polished during treatment for best results. Give them the chance to really absorb the medication. So to sum it up, this stuff flat works. I am very pleased and have proven to myself that you do not have to take the expensive and to some people dangerous Lamisil tablets in order to cure foot fungus. Now granted, my case was on the mild side, but still, based on how quickly this stuff is working, I believe it can work for anyone if you are diligent and consistent with treatment and use it exactly as directed. I will continue to use this product over the next several months (I was told it will take about 6 months for a complete recovery)to assure that all signs of fungus have cleared up. Toenails also need to be trimmed very short and clipped often to remove any dead debris from the nails.
I also forgot to mention that I purchased my Mycocide from the foot doctor for $20. I later found out that it is now available over the counter at most pharmacies for about $15.00 and also online. You do not need a prescription.
So for me, Mycocide gets two thumbs (or toes!) up!!
