| cristina1's Full Review: Mylanta Regular Strength Liquid |
My son Zachary was diagnosed with reflux at three weeks old. He was having a lot of problems keeping down any food at all, and it was just terrible to see him suffer. Once the Upper GI showed reflux was the cause, a few very simple remedies helped a great deal. A little rice cereal to weight down the formula, and some Children's Mylanta.
His dosage was a quarter teaspoon every four hours and it immediately calmed down his crying. The children's version comes in different flavors and Zachary seemed to like bubblegum the best.
I didnt notice any side effects with using this product, and the pediatrician assured me that the medication was safe for a newborn to take every four hours on a daily basis. He was able to take the Mylanta with any other medications he needed. Of course, if you are giving this to a child, please consult your doctor first.
I have not used any other products to compare this medication to. This is what my doctor suggested by name, so this is what I used to treat the reflux. I wouldnt even buy store brand. I like to follow doctors orders to a tee when it comes to my children, especially when they are this young.
Zachary took Mylanta for the first few months of his life and then once he learned to sit up his reflux became a great deal better. In the rare instances he does feel heartburn or get an upset tummy, Mylanta is our first choice in medication.
