| xxjdadams's Full Review: NEC MultiSync LCD1545V 15 inch LCD Monitor |
I bought this a few years back when the black/silver display fad began, fearing I would never again see a nice, white flat-panel display for my computer. NEC's quality has never waivered over the years, and in this case, they're still high on my list of desirable equipment.
The up-front controls are well placed and work well. The screen image at its native 1024x768 is very crisp and readable --perfect for desktop applications. The backlighting has never once burned out in all of the years I've owned it. The base is nicely designed (the best I've ever used) and the cabling is heavy-duty and well placed. The only problem I have with it is that the image will 'shift' to the left if turned on while a DOS VGA image is fed into it, just before it jumps into high-res Windows graphics. Turning it off/on solves that problem however.
The automatic pixellation adjustment is nice and keeps the image crisp. If running at anything other than native mode, an annoying message pops up, however it can be disabled through the onscreen menus. Good imaging if working at other resolutions. Nice design - I wish others would sell something resembling this.
Don't buy an extended warranty. This thing is durable and rock-solid in terms of performance and stability. It will probably outlive your desire to use it.
