I purchased this wireless router when buying a new laptop. The installation was cake (if you follow the directions!) and the downstream performance is excellent for downloads with my Cable Internet modem. This router comes with advanced security options like SSID masking, WPA2, TKIP encryption, multiple channels, MAC address security, and various other configurations for more advanced networking. However, if you are just a student or just want a simple home network to link computers and printers together then this is the one. It uses the b/g protocols that provide up to 54Mbps download speeds over distances of 100 feet. Unless you are running something higher than T1 on your network or living in a 50,000 square foot home, there is no need for anything higher like the N protocol, so don't just throw your money away for the latest and greatest. This router is reasonably priced, has 4 ports, and is perfect for a home/ office network. Just remember to enable encryption and change your passphrase every 90 days because hackers are out there surfing the airwaves.
