Pros: reasonable easy set up. surprisingly strong signal.
Cons: best transmit rate is 100mbp.
I can't believe there aren't more devices like this. This is absolutely one of the best purchases I made. If you have any LAN only network device, this wireless adapter will turn it into a wireless device.
Setup - I won't say it's fool proof, but you do need a bit of network knowledge. Basically, you connect this device to your computer (via lan) first. Going to its web interface. From the web interface , set up your wifi access point. Unplug from your computer and connect to the device you wish to turn into wireless, and you are done. If you wish to set up static IP, you could do so as well within the web interface. Just remember, if you are hooking this up to an existing device, just make sure you have identical ip set up.
Performance - While this is an 802.11n device, and it should be able to transmit up to 300mbps. Unfortuantely, the LAN port on this device is 100mbps. Therefore, the best you could do is about 100mbps.
Devices that I've tested:
HDHomerun TV dual tuner box - works well. Make sure the signal is strong, since this device is a bandwidth hog. I don't recommend using the usb port on the tuner box as power source, but you could.
Sony 46ex710 TV with LAN port - works very good. This TV itself came with a 100mbps LAN port. I was able to stream video from Amazon, youtube without problem.
An all-in-1 brother printer - I was able to scan, print, fax without problem.
DirecTV box - not much use here, but it works.
All in all, I like the devices. After I purchase one new at over $40, I decided to get a couple more recertified one at around $20.
