Pros:in text

Cons:see above

The Bottom Line: This is an avoid please do not get this GET A TREK THEY ARE BETTER AND MORE RELIABLE

Before this review starts let me say that I know little about bikes. Also this is one big pro/con thing so there is nothing under PROS and CONS

-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_
The pro's of the bike
-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_

The wheels and tires
-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_

The Wheels are 24in. in diameter. They are then pumped up to 40-60 psi. The inner tubes are easy to find and buy. The metal parts of the wheel are well built and sturdy. It uses soft mud tires which grip very well and when pumped up ride very nicely.

The shock-absorbers
-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_

The front shocks are soft and absorb small bumps like going off a curb very well. The back adjustable shocks are good for light terrain and are adjustable.

The frame and handle bars
-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_

The frame is a very heavy duty anodized (is that correct?) aluminum with very good wields that have not broken (even when bottoming out the shocks) or even looked damaged. This is a very good thing as just about every one should know that the stronger the better! The handle bars are (on the straight part) covered with very comfortable rubber. It also has the curved ends that point up which are my favorite place to put my hands. The whole bike is made out of materials that do not rust (The chain might but I don't know).

The pedals, gears, and brakes
-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_

The pedals are an anodized aluminum and are NOT those cheap plastic ones that get beat up and torn up. You also never have to replace them because of their strength and wear resistance.

The gears so far have not broken nor has the chain slipped off much. The gear changer works fine and changes them in a hurry WITHOUT getting jumbled and hung up. It has 21 gears which are good and for me I think, the more the better!

The brakes work great and can stop as fast as necessary. The brake pads are strong and (for me) have so far not needed to be changed.

The cons of the bike
-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_

The wheels
-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_

The wheels are a soft rubber. This can be bad because if you skid you can say bye-bye wheels and some money. This is really the ONLY con on the wheels

The shock-absorbers
-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_

The front shocks are fine though medium in hardness but there is no way to adjust them. The back shock is the problem, it is adjustable BUT basically Elmer's glued on to the adjustable part. It broke after I tried to adjust it. Then it stayed at what it wanted to be at. Unless I made it harder (why do that if the front ones aren't adjustable?).

The frame and handle bars
-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_

The frame Is EXTREMELY heavy but that is all

The pedals (The gears and brakes have no problems)
-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_

Ok the pedals are the worst part of the bike. Not because of strength or really any thing but the bolt that holds the left pedal on. It is like any other bolt which is not good. It is threaded the wrong way. It is threaded clockwise. So when you pedal it tries to back out (which it does) and the pedal falls off. I have put the pedal on 3 times every time it falls off. Then the a bike shop fixed it. "The troubles are over", I thought. But nope It fell off in 5 minutes. This problem ruins the whole bike rendering it worthless. I have had this bike many years and only put maybe 3 or 4 hours max on it. If not for this problem this is a 4 star bike. But because of it now it is just a 2 star bike.

Unless this problem has been fixed get a trek. They are lighter (lighter the better) and have no problems. I have one and it is very old with lots of hours on it and still going like new. It only has had popped tires and a broken spoke (from a crash) in it's medical history.

Please comment on my review if you see a problem and dont forget to read my other ones as well!!!
