Pros:Made to last, comes in any name/number - even yours!
Cons:Costs a little more than "off the shelf" players, can't be returned at NFL.com stores.
The Bottom Line: If you are a hardcore fan you should give this route a try because it can be a very fun process deciding what name and number to buy.
It's been a few years since Elway, Sharpe, and the crew led Denver to a Superbowl victory, but now might be the time to pick up a new jersey and get ready for another run in the hands of Cutler, Bly, and the 2007 team.
The jersey I'm reviewing is the Denver Broncos authentic home jersey that is made in the current onfield color scheme and styling. No throwbacks here, just the stuff you see on TV every Sunday!
Why an Authentic jersey?
This is a question you should ask as the first part of your buying process. The first thing you will learn is that an authentic jersey is the highest quality jersey a fan can purchase! It's pricier than the popular "EQT" or replica jerseys, and with good reason. It's just like on the field with it's heavily sewn seams and 100% accurate colors.
The numbers are tackle twill (heavy cloth) sewn on in 2 full layers. This means an oversized orange number is sewn on the jersey, then a white number is sewn to it to create a thick white number with orange trim. Same with the letters.
Afraid you'll rip your own jersey off in frustration when Cutler starts slinging interceptions? The sides of this jersey are elastic panels. This means that you can wear it several sizes too small and it will stretch to form fit to your body if you want it to. "Can't pinch an inch" to tear the thing off when it's worn that way! In NFL games this is done to prevent other players from grabbing the jersey so it should help against even the the most frustrated of fans.
You'll also get a heavily stitched "V" collar with the NFL "shield" logo on the base of the V so you know it's authentic NFL merchandise.
Why a customized jersey?
When you order this jersey you specify which number and name you want on it, thus it's called customized. This isn't for the casual fan who wants the teams biggest stars...those jerseys are readily available for $20-$30 less at any big sporting goods store in the teams region. The customized jersey is for the fan who wants something unique or hard to find. This jersey could feature your name and number as if you were a Denver Bronco! The name could be "Superfan" or "Best Dad" or anything else you like that isn't profane or objectionable.
The number could be your lucky number, the number 1 (as in Best Dad, #1), or the number of the year the Broncos went to the SuperBowl (97 or 98).
This is also a great way to order the jersey of a past player, ie. Elway #7, Atwater #27, Sharpe #84 or Davis #30. Perfect for the ultimate Broncos fan!
Why this particular jersey?
The color scheme on this jersey was groundbreaking for football teams when it came out in the late 1990's. It's still sharp today and isn't an eyesore like the old "Orange Crush" jerseys were. You can wear this one and remember the two Superbowl wins and feel like you look good doing it.
Conclusion:
This is great football gear that you can spend your money on and know that if you take reasonable care of it you will still be wearing it 7 to 10 seasons from now. Any jersey fan knows the lower priced replicas are lucky to last 1 season, two at the most.
This is right for you if you are a dedicated fan with a name/number you know you'll be comfortable with for a long time!
For the casual fan that wants only big star names and won't wear it when they move on to another team, you are probably better off with the lower priced replica or EQT version.
