Raiders fans are well known for being rabid, wild, hardcore believers in the team they support. Wild costumes are prevalent at the games in Oakland and I've seen Raiders fans as far away as Charlotte, North Carolina in the spiked shoulder pads, leather guantlets, and crazy helmets.

Why is this important? Because if you are a Raiders fan you are more likely to consider the color scheme of this jersey subdued and "main stream". It's a simple jersey with a silver body and black numerals.

Reebok stiff arms the knockoff brands
When Reebok began manufacturing the NFL Equipment line they really went all out. Heavily stitched seems, spandex side plates, generous sizing, and the "jock tail" all contribute to the jersey being much better than the lower priced offerings. Be aware that when you are buying from Reebok you are purchasing from a company that has an established reputation for quality and durability.

This is a replica...
There are really three types of NFL jersey - Authentic, EQT, and Replica.

Authentic jerseys are the highest quality and are the same jersey worn on the field. These go for around $250 each and are worth every penny for the most dedicated of fans. You can read about authentics in my Epinions profile.

The EQT are mid quality - essentially a replica jersey with heavy tackle twill letters/numbers sewn onto the body. These go for around $100 each.

Replica jerseys like this one are the lowest in quality and price. They normally go around $65 and feature a mesh body, dazzle yoke (aka shiny shoulders) and silk screened letters/numbers/logos. Silk screened letters and numbers are essentially an iron on transfers. These tend to crack, peel, and come off as the jersey ages and is laundered.

It's 100% accurate!
When you look at a NFL Equipment jersey you know you are looking at the right thing! The black numbers and silver body are a perfect match in appearance to the one that is worn by the Raiders once or twice a year. Placing "TV numbers" on the sleeves and regular numbers on the chest and back are just as the jersey should be. The name is placed on a sewn on piece of "nameplate" cloth just like the real thing.

Looks hot, feels cool
If you wear this jersey during your family's annual two hand touch football game or to the stadium in August and September you'll find that the material it's made from lets your core breathe to release excess heat. It's not a fishnet type of material that looks silly, it's closely woven so it doesn't really show the skin that is beneath.

Why a Tim Brown jersey?
Touchdown Timmy has been retired a few years now but he spent 16 years carving out a space in the Hall of Fame while he played in Oakland. He spent only one season, his final one, with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to mar his record as being a Raider his full career.

Over those 17 seasons Brown was never know as a problem to his community and wasn't shown by the national media to be a "bad guy" that you wouldn't want to be associated with. As far as the general public knows T.B. is a fine, upstanding citizen that you can be proud to support with your jersey choice.

The Bottom Line:
If you are a casual fan looking for a Raiders alternate jersey this is a good way to get one. A jersey that features the name and number of a sure Hall of Fame player isn't a common thing so you can be proud to wear Tim's number even though he's retired.

If you are a true fan of football in general or Brown and the Raiders in particular this is a good pickup but if you are a casual fan who shops for the "Flavor of the Month" this is one you should pass on.
