| wickeddude's Full Review: NHL 2002 for PlayStation 2 |
NHL 2002 is one of the most addictive sports games out there. The puck passing and constant body checking make the game seem as fast paced and action-packed as the real thing.
The color commentary is so hilarious and original. One is used to serious toughguy commentary in games like this, but the writers of the commentary for NHL 2002 must have sat down for hundreds of hours to come up with the endless barrage of silly jokes that make this game not only action-packed, but incredibly amusing as well.
The only drawbacks to the game are that goal-scoring, especially by the computer, can be arbitrary at times. You can hack away forever and not score a goal and the computer will flip the puck from any old place and score.
Nonetheless, there is a certain skill needed to score most goals, which make it fun, like setting up one-timers, manual shot aim, and breakaways.
While this game is not perfect, I would recommend it to anyone.
