Pros: can be salvaged for spare parts, comes with adapter for single in/out plug, looks professional.
Cons: poor sound quality, microphone does not work, bulky, made in China
I purchased three of these headphones below manufacturer's price from geekbro.com, and received them just yesterday. All I can say is, if you're considering these, don't bother.
They come with two plugs on the end, for the microphone and speaker ports in the back of your computer. I tried these out on my computer first, and was surprised to find that the microphone did not seem to be transmitting, and only by turning my volume up to max could I hear anything out of the left earphone. Naturally, I assumed that this was just the fault of this particular pair of headphones, so I put the first pair away and tried the second. Again, I could only hear anything out of both ears at maximum volume, and the microphone did not work. The same went for the third pair.
So, I thought, perhaps my microphone port was not working, since none of these headphones did anything. I plugged in a cheap little microphone, and it picked up sound, meaning that the microphones on the headsets were, in fact, unusable.
As a final nail in the coffin, I took one of the slightly less broken ones to my father-- an acoustics expert-- to listen. The sound quality, in his opinion, was the worst he'd ever heard from something that looked so professional. You could get better sound from a pair of ear buds from the dollar store.
I am returning these as soon as possible. Pretty much the only thing I can think of that these would be useful for is if you're going as a DJ for Halloween and need a pair of headphones that are already broken.
