I have the world's softest fingernails and had given up on ever being able to grow them. And I'd been wearing artificial nails almost continuously for nearly 20 years, so I could have a nice-looking manicure. When the fake nails would come off between applications, my real nails were BEYOND hideous. I'm telling you, they were in the worst possible shape that fingernails can probably be in... thin, thin, thin and barely there! You can understand why I wanted to keep them covered up all the time!
A friend who swears by Nailtiques encouraged me to give it a try, and by this time, I was really hating what the acrylics were doing to my nail beds. I got the #2 formula, gritted my teeth and exposed my gnarly stubs to the world (That was the hardest part. I felt naked!) while I faithfully applied a coat daily. (Their instructions say to remove it every 3-4 days with remover, but it almost begs to be peeled off.) But I stuck with it, and after about 3 months... I guess that's how long it takes for a whole nail to grow out from cuticle to white part... I had lovely nails! Now, they're not diamond-hard or anything, but they are noticeably harder, and I'm able to keep them at a nice, flattering length. I wouldn't go back to acrylic nails for a million bucks.
Yes, the stuff's expensive. And it gets gloopy eventually. Big deal. It's still worth every last penny, and I'm so thankful to my friend for recommending it! What a pleasure to look down and see MY NATURAL NAILS looking nice for the first time in... well, ever!
