nursesonya's Full Review: Nars the Multiple Maldives
I bought this highlighter after reading a ton of reviews over the years about how great it is; how multifunctional, etc. etc. It was very expensive so it took me a long time to try it but I decided to take the $37 plunge and try the shade called Maldives (pink champagne). So far, it's been very useful!
The packaging is typical for Nars and, for me, a substantial part of the product. It's a matte finish tube that sticks well in your hands (not hard plastic that is prone to slip out of your hand to the floor and ruin the product). I can also find it without looking in my makeup bag. It rolls up like a giant lipstick about an inch across and can be swept onto your cheekbones, eyelids, even nose and chin for a soft subtle highlight.
I like that it can be used practically over your whole face without making you look like a sparkly clown. It is a very fine shimmer product that just highlights those areas you use it on. It does not overwhelm your other makeup; it plays well with others. I have even used it on my lips with some clear balm over the top and it looks nice.
What I'm not loving as much is that it feels a little dry in the tube and when you run it across your cheeks, it can feel like it's pulling your skin slightly. Instead of applying it directly, I usually use my fingers and transfer that to where I want highlighted. It's no big deal and is just a little quirk of mine. I think it pulls less when the makeup underneath is moist and not very matte.
Maldives is a light pink/silvery shade that would look great with any skin tone, but I think it would suit fairer tones the best (I'm fair with brown hair and blue eyes).
All in all, I would recommend you try Nars the Multiple in Maldives because, although it's expensive, it should last a very long time and it's very versatile.
