A year or so ago I developed a raging allergy - to what I'm still not sure. It seemed to go pretty much throughout the year, winter and summer. My nose was stuffed up and runny, my eyes were watery and red, I was sneezing constantly, my sinuses were bothering me, my quality of life was diminishing - it was unbearable! I couldn't sleep at night because I couldn't breathe.
One problem for me is that I have bad reactions to most decongestants and antihistamines. I find I get drowsy and dizzy, jittery, and just plain out of it. I was afraid to use nasal sprays because they can become addicting. I did try one for a while though, just because I HAD to. But those tend to work temporarily, and then the stuffiness comes back even worse. Nothing worked for me!
Until I tired NasalCrom. This stuff saved me from ongoing misery with no side effects whatsoever.
~ What is NasalCrom and How Does it Work?
NasalCrom is a nasal allergy symptom controller. It is intended to relieve and prevent symptoms such as runny nose, itchy/watery eyes, sneezing, and allergic stuffy nose. It comes in a nasal spray, with a metered dosage, and the active ingredient is cromolyn sodium, 5.2 mg per spray.
NasalCrom works a bit differently from most allergy relief medications in that it is a spray that is directed into your nose, right at the site of the problem, rather than an oral medication.
NasalCrom targets the mast cells in your nose and protects them from any potential allergens. It's the mast cells which release the histamines that cause nasal allergy symptoms. You can even begin using it before the allergy season starts, or before you know you'll be coming into contact with something that fires up your allergies. That way you never have any symptoms at all. For best results you should start using it about a week before contact with allergens.
The recommended dosage to control allergy symptoms is one spray in each nostril 3 to 4 times a day (every 4 to 6 hours). And to use every day while in contact with the source of your allergies.

~ My Experience with NasalCrom
As I mentioned, I was experiencing severe allergy symptoms that were making me miserable. I had to have a tissue with me constantly because of the sneezing and runny nose. I couldn't sleep at night because I would get stuffed up.
The package says that if possible you should start using NasalCrom before your allergy symptoms start, but I was already in full blown allergy agony. The directions tell us that NasalCrom will reach its full strength and effectiveness after one to two weeks of daily use. I thought, oh pleeease let it work faster!
I used it as directed about 4 times a day for the first two days. The spray is a fairly fine mist that is not objectionable. It didn't sting. It is similar to a nasal decongestant spray, but I think it's a finer mist. The pump spray works easily by putting your thumb on the bottom of the bottle and your index and middle finger on either side of the nozzle where there is a ledge to rest your fingers.
I noticed a major improvement after the first day! In fact after two days, my allergy symptoms were virtually gone! I was stunned - amazed - thankful! I continued to use it even though my symptoms were basically gone. I used it about 3 times a day for a few weeks. No more allergy symptoms! I backed off to twice a day, then down to once at night. My symptoms were gone. I could sleep at night. No more runny nose and sneezing. No more itchy, red eyes. I finally had my life back!
I continued to use it about once a day, then after about maybe two months I stopped using it altogether. My symptoms did not recur for several weeks. Then I noticed them slowly coming back. I started hitting the NasalCrom again and no more allergy symptoms.
I have since backed off and haven't had any allergy symptoms for about a year now. I don't know why, or if the NasalCrom had anything to do with totally getting rid of my allergy. But I will always have some NasalCrom around in case of a flare up.
~ Warnings, Cautions, and other Notes
We are told that you should ask a doctor before using if you have fever, discolored nasal discharge, sinus pain, or wheezing.
You should stop using and ask a doctor if you experience any of the following:
Shortness of breath, wheezing, or chest tightness
Hives or swelling of the mouth or throat
Your symptoms worsen
You have new symptoms
Your symptoms do not begin to improve within two weeks
You need to use for more than 12 weeks
If you are pregnant or breast feeding, you should ask a doctor before using.
We are also told that there may be brief stinging or sneezing right after use, but I did not experience this.
You should not use this to treat asthma, cold symptoms or sinus infection.
Do not share your bottle with anyone else.
The inactive ingredients are: Benzalkonium chloride, edetate disodium, purified water

NasalCrom is a lifesaver! I have experienced no bad reactions, no side effects whatsoever, and it totally took away my allergy suffering. If you have seasonal or perennial nasal allergy symptoms, give this a try - particularly if you have problems with oral antihistamines or other over the counter allergy medicine. No more sneezing, stuffy and runny nose, red and itchy eyes. And start using NasalCrom before contacting known allergens to totally prevent symptoms from occurring at all.
