*** As with all my reviews, this is a Cruelty Free product from a maker that does NOT use animal testing.***
Recently I picked up Nature’s Gate Chamomile Replenishing Conditioner along with my purchase of Nature's Gate Pomegranate Sunflower Hair Defense Shampoo. Although I was not planning on purchasing conditioner, because I had some at home, Nature’s Gate products were on sale for almost half off. Since they normally run anywhere around just-under-$7 to $14, the sale enticed me to try it out.
What You Get Nature’s Gate Chamomile Replenishing Conditioner comes in an 18oz. bottle. I have not seen other sizes available. The natures-gate web site lists the price at $6.29. At my local organic market the regular price is slightly higher. And I have seen even higher prices online. So shopping around can definitely save you some cash.
The Ingredients: Water, Cetyl Alcohol, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract, Hordeum Distichon (Barley) Extract, Bisabolol, Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein, Panthenol, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract, Equisetum Hiemale (Horsetail) Extract, Geranium Maculatum Extract, Hedychium Coronarium (Hawaiian Ginger) Root Extract, Arctium Lappa (Burdock) Root Extract, Tocopherol, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Stearalkonium Chloride, Butylene Glycol, Citric Acid, Potassium Sorbate, Phenoxyethanol, Fragrance.
Nature’s Gate products can typically be found at local organic markets and online. The site does have a store locator. But when I tried it out, it said there were no retailers near me. So I am not sure how useful it is.
How It Works (or not) The Nature’s Gate web site states ”Chamomile Conditioner soothes scalp, strengthens and softens hair, and emphasizes highlights and shine for all hair types. Nature's Gate Herbal Chamomile Conditioner. Our mildest conditioner strengthens hair. German Chamomile (matricaria chamomilla): This pleasantly aromatic herb if found on hillsides and meadows around the world. Long honored for its medicinal properties, it also offers many cosmetic benefits to skin, hair, and scalp. Nature's Gate Chamomile Conditioner with Extract of Chamomile and Horsetail strengthens hair, repairs split-ends, helps seal hair cuticles to make hair stronger while adding sheen and highlights. A powerful flavonoid, (-) alpha bisabolol, acts as an antioxidant and promotes a healthy scalp.”
As with the shampoo, I cannot say if the Chamomile Conditioner actually protects my hair. I do like the product and the way it makes my hair feel after use, especially after using their shampoo. The scent is barely detectable and pleasant.
With other natural conditioners I have tried, I have often had to use a LOT of the product to get my hair feeling soft and silky. Not so with Nature’s Gate Replenishing. I find I use just about the same amount as national brands.
After rinsing out, my hair only smells clean and fresh. I do not detect any fragrance, really. My hair also feels soft and somewhat silky. I like this because it does not feel like it is weighed down by residual product.
After a month of use, I am still happy with this product. I do say I have to doubt that Nature’s Gate Chamomile Replenishing Conditioner “protects” any better than any other. But I do like using both the Nature’s Gate products. __________________________ Please check out my other, related, reviews:
