We initially bought Natures Miracle Stain & Odor Remover when our puppy was small to clean up potty messes, but soon found it was usefull for a number of cleaning tasks. I find it gentle enough to use at full strength as a cleanser for our furniture (including our leather couches)and as a floor cleaner. I like to use it because it is safe for people and animals and it doesn't cause my dog who has severe contact dermatitis to break out. It might be a bit pricey, but if you buy the big jug and water it down in a spray bottle it works awesome to get old stains out of the carpet and as a pre treat for laundry and is relatively inexpensive.
