I can't stand the smell of cat urine, and who can for that matter? It is not a smell one should be subjected to. If someone owns five indoor cats, however, it is hard to have a fresh smelling house.

I now also own a minature beagle named Max. Upon arrival at my home he wasn't 100% of where his personal version of the litter box was going to be. I hadn't yet installed a dog door, so he didn't know where to go. Max decided to do his duties behind my TV, and in the corner of the living room.

This is where the cats come into play. My five cats, not used to the dog, ALL spray in the general area of where the dog urinated, to mark their teritory. My living room reeked of urine, BADLY! I soaked it up with towels, used baking soda, and tried carpet cleaning with my Bissel hand cleaner... Nothing Worked. There was still a stong oder in the room that I feared would never go away. I considered replacing the carpeting even, until someone I worked with told me about this product.

I plugged in a blacklight to see where the damage had been done, and it was in the two corners of my living room. Black lights luminate the ammonia in the urine, so if you need to find your problem spots... buy a blacklight. My blacklight, I am sorry to say, is used quite often. I made a mental note of where the urine was in the carpet, then went to my local pet store and bought two large bottles of Nature's Miracle for $6.00 each. A small price to pay for fresh air.

When I got home I poured one entire bottle on the floor in the corner, then poured the second bottle into a spray container for later use. The directions state that you must saturate the carpet and padding, or whatever has urine/stains in it. I saturated the padding all right! About an hour later my living room smelled horrible, absolutly awful. I wondered why it smelled even worse of ammonia. I read the directions some more and it stated that it would smell until it dried. I figured out that the smell was of the ammonia deteriorating into the air.

Two days later, and the living room smelled great! There have been a few times that my cats have had "accidents," upon which I have just sprayed the area with this product as fast as I could, and within the hour the room smells better than before. I also love the fact that because the smell is completly absorbed, the animals will not go back to it again for repeat "accidents."

Nature's Miracle claims to have natural enzymes in it that break down the ammonia and protein in urine, absorbing it into the air, which is why it smells so bad at first. To use the product you do unfortunatly need to saturate the entire area, then wait for it to dry to see if you need to treat it again by testing it with a blacklight. areas treated might still have a glow to them, but you can tell if there has been an accident.

It really does work, and it is a product that I will always keep handy. Don't replace your carpeting until you have tried this.
