The Nautilus Sleep System mattresses are a series of adjustable mattresses the come in four classifications. Ultimate, Premier, Signature, and Basic series of mattresses are available. We chose the Signature Series Mattress in the 'Eastern King' (76" x 80") size. We did not need to get the foundation as this mattress was replacing the one on our waterbed.

The idea behind the Sleep Systems is a mattress with two separate air chambers that are each controlled by their own remote control device. Thus if you like a soft mattress and your wife prefers a firmer mattress, each of you gets to have your way. Wedded Bliss! Neither my wife nor I was happy with the quality of sleep we were getting. After a couple of cups of morning java, we resolved to find a solution. After delving into the minutiae of mattresses, we agreed to try this mattress system.

Construction. The Sleep System mattresses consist of several layers. At the heart of this system rests the Variable Support Air Chambers. The chambers are set side by side and give you the ability to select your own personal level of support. These air chambers are encased in a Foam Rail Internal Support System. The air chambers are covered with a layer of foam and the whole thing is wrapped up in the polyester mattress cover. Looks just like an ordinary mattress.

Foundation. As you can surmise, this mattress is pretty substantial. An ordinary set of box springs will not properly support the Sleep System. Nautilus will gladly sell you a foundation that does support their system. A waterbed foundation is strong enough to hold this mattress properly. We used ours and it works very well.

Comfort. That's the reason for buying this elaborate mattress, right? Well, the Nautilus Sleep System gives us each a good night of deep sleep. Being so rested lets us enjoy life fully. We can go thru the day recharged. We had thought a water bed mattress was the solution to our mattress requirement needs. Let me tell you sleeping on air is as good as it gets.

External Comfort Control System. Each side of our mattress is operated by means of a remote control device. You can adjust the level of firmness with the simple press of a button. There is a comfort control box that goes below your bed. It contains the air pumps which are very quiet.

Mattress requires assembly. The Nautilus System comes to you in boxes. You will need to put it together. If this mattress is going to cause any nightmares , it will be during the assembly. Just kidding, once you get everything laid out, assembly is pretty straightforward. It took me about a half hour.

Warranty, guarantee,shipping. Our mattress came with a 20 year warranty and a 90 day trial period. This was nice since we bought thru their online site. If you are not satisfied , just pay the shipping sent it back in the original packaging. Shipping is expensive ( over $100 ) but they gave us free shipping with our purchase. We bought our mattress at their site Instantcomfort.com . We were able to get all of our question answered courteously and professionally by the folks there.

We have enjoyed our Sleep System completely. Enjoying night after night of deep and restful sleep has impacted the quality of our everyday experiences. I used to wale up almost every night around three in the morning. It would take me a while to get back to sleep. Needless to say, I wasn't starting the new day rested and restored. Now I am.
