I purchased the NeatDesk Desktop Scanner for my desktop and the NeatReceipts portable scanner for my laptop. I followed all of the instructions exactly as written and I had software configuration problems on both the desktop and the laptop computers. I uninstalled it and installed it three more times on each computer. I sent 11 Email requests into their company to ask for support assistance and each time I received a canned automated response.

I finally was able to leave a message on some voice mail with the promise of a return telephone call within 24 hours. Three days later, I called again and started all over again. Finally after threatening to contact the Department of Consumer Protection, I received an Email with a patch to purchase their newest software which was promised to take care of the issues on both computers. Why I needed new software when the two brand new scanners came with software I don't know, but I had already invested $600.00 on the two scanners. Stupidly, and yes I mean stupidly, I fell for that bait and switch sales pitch and spent another $29.95 for each computer and loaded the new software. Well at that point, neither computer worked and not only could I not load their software to be able to use the scanners but it also froze everything else on my computers. I then had to have a tech support specialist remove all of the patchwork they call software off of both computers at an additional cost of $300.00. I replaced both of these Neat Company scanners with a Fujitsu ScanSnap for the desktop and a portable version for the laptop. Guess what, they worked out of the box and it has been almost one full year and I have not had one problem with them.
This is a dying company on it's last breath, don't bother to spend your money, time and patience and hope they work. They do not service the inferior product they sell. You may get lucky but I think you have a better chance winning the lottery!
