I suffer from year-round allergies (non-specific, but I am aware of being sensitive to anything with chemicals, mold, etc). Every time I get a cold, it turns into a nasty sinus infection, and I've noticed that my allergies have also been producing sinus pain and congestion as well. I haven't been able to breathe through my nose for well over a month, and have not been sleeping at night because of this. Not to mention, the intense pain and pressure in my sinuses, headaches, itchy mouth, nose and throat due to my allergies. OTC allergy medications that usually work for me have not been working lately, so it was time to find another means of relief!
My friend told me about neti pots and I decided to look into nasal irrigation to gain some relief. I found NeilMed's website and compared their products, deciding that perhaps a "stronger" method, like the sinus rinse would be more appropriate for my constant congestion.
I found a kit at Shopper's Drug Mart for $19.99 which included 50 premixed packages of solution.
This is my fourth day using it and what a difference!! Not only can I breathe through my nose, which has always been difficult at best, but my allergy symptoms of itchy mouth, nose and throat are considerably reduced, to the point that I have not taken the allergy medication since starting with the Sinus Rinse. I have been using it in the morning, since that is when my symptoms are worse, and a couple of times, I have also used it in the evening, to help me breathe through the night.
