Pros: Nice artwork, +9 for Agility, Air species, great 'common' card.
Cons: Overpriced at online stores.
The Bottom Line: Not exactly one of the most sought after cards in the series but worth collecting nonetheless.

| Freak369's Full Review: Neopets Trading Card Game Battle for Meridell Comm... |
Some of the coolest cards in the Battle For Meridell deck arent the powerful magic cards or even the ones that allow you to steal items from other players but they are the ones that show the Neopets in their own environment. The Meerca isn't one of my favorite species; even though I love Meerca Chase at the website and they are cute, I never really got into their overall cuteness. Sure, they can get away with a lot more than other pets because of their jovial nature but to me they were just too cute to take to the Battledome. There are more than a few Meerca cards in the Battle For Meridell deck as well as virtual cards to collect at the website, if you are going to complete a deck you will need to hunt this one down and even though it is listed as a common card by Neopets standards, getting your hands on them is a little harder than it seems.
Neopet TCG "Red Meerca" 110/140
Imagery: To me the Meerca looks like a bloated tick; I've said that in other reviews of the TCG cards and Neopet products and my initial view of them hasn't changed. This card has a very, very happy Meerca jumping in the air in the woods. Now that might not sound all that exciting but you have to see the background of the card to really appreciate it. There are little faerie sparkles everywhere and a somewhat mysterious glowing hue behind it. One thing that you don't immediately 'see' is the long fat tail of the Meerca, since the underside is white it sort of gets lost inside the image but when you see the red along the sides you realize that it's its tail.
Deck Series:Battle For Meridell
Promo Card: No
Strength: +1
Agility: +9
Magic: +3
Intelligence: +1
The biggest perk here is the +9 for Agility; that can really help to boost your stats in an event and is an awesome way to start out the game. Even though Strength and Intelligence are both +1 there are other cards you can tap into the game to improve those. While seasoned TCG players might not want to choose this Neopet for an event, to me it is a good pick for newer players or those who want to get off with a good start in the Agility arena. Maybe I had bad luck trying to collect more than a few of these or I just happened to get boxes and packs that were top heavy with Light and Water Neopets. If you are looking to trade cards, accept nothing less than +5 or higher for any of the stats and if possible go for Equipment cards or Petpets.

Some of the online stores and sites that sell Neopet cards are listing this as a Holofoil card when it isn't. It is classified as a "common card' by Neopet standards and if you view the virtual card at the website you will see the class "C" listing of it. If you are looking to buy this you can expect to pay anywhere from .20 to .30 cents for it if it is new and in mint condition, a little less if it has been played or has any type of surface scratching. Since this is a basic Neopet card it is something that can be used often so you might want to try to get multiples of them; from the boxes and packs I purchased I have only managed to get three of them. That really irks me because it is a common card and should surface a little more often than that.
Directions: This is a character card so it is used at the beginning of any event or if you get a card that allows you to switch a Neopet. The Air species is usually a little too wimpy for me to use when I play but there are some nice advantages to this one, namely the +9 Agility and companion Meerca cards.
Quote: "Meercas are talented pranksters, and they're very rarely caught". Yes, the Meerca species are well known for their pranks and jokes but the two most well known are thieving brothers Heermeedjet and Merouladen. They were formerly the drones of Malkus Vile but decided that if they were going to take all the risks involved with thievery they might as well reap the rewards of their efforts.
If you play at the Neopet website there are some very cool Meerca related items that you can collect as well as use if you choose to enter the Battledome. Some of the cooler items include the "Meerca Negg Bomb", "Meerca Water Mine", "Meerca Brothers Toy Rope", "Hot Meerca Tea", "When Your Meercas Hurt", "Meerca Cookie" and "Happy Meerca Stories". There are also some very cool looking TCG cards that you can collect at the site, two of the nicest looking are "Meerca Brothers" and "Meerca Catapult".
To get a better look at this card, check your Neopet TCG album to see if you have it or you could go to the Checklist feature and view if from there. Alas, striving to make it even easier, cut and paste this link into your browser window:

The image hosted here shows the card as being a little darker in tone than it really is. My cards show the red as being a little lighter and less intense but you do get to see more of the background that way.
The Bottom Line
The artwork on this is a nice perk so even if you are a casual collector of the TCG cards, this is s cute one to try and get. If you are a fan of the Meerca species then consider this a must have card for your collection as it shows the little bugger being extremely happy and in its own forest environment. The +9 is the biggest draw for this card but the +3 for Magic is also a nice way to bump up your stats when people aren't paying attention. I don't participate in the game events any more because they aren't as widely held but I am sure that when the new plot comes out there will be Neopet sponsored events at places like Toys 'R Us. This is a common card that has a few nice perks to it but even if you collect them for the artwork, this is a great looking card for your collection.
As always, thanks for the visit
