The Bottom Line: That's one ticked off looking Lupe farmer!

The Neopet TCG game does take a little time to get used to; it took me a long time before I really understood the importance of picking out solid cards for a game. When I first started I went for a lot of high powered cards and didn't stop to think about strategy. You can't win a game in two minutes so you need to be prepared for the long haul and that's where the Something Has Happened cards can come in handy. This one, Crop Failure, is nice to keep in your deck to spring on a player when you know they are holding a high bank food item. If you play this at the right point in the game it can buy you some much needed time to get some points on your side and it can really tick off players who think they have a game all sewn up.

Imagery: Who ever worked on the art for this card rally needs to be more involved with the overall deck design because it is one of the better long cards. The background is a little muted so the Lupe farmer that is in the foreground stands out and it almost looks a little like a 3-D card. He's standing in a field of Teal Juppies, one of the many food items that you can buy at the Neopet website and feed to your pet or use in a Cooking Pot recipe. All but one of the Juppies are scorched or dried up and the blame goes to Morguss. The red color of the Lupe really stands out because everything else in the scene is brown or green. You have to laugh at his outfit though, whoever dressed him needs some serious fashion advice.
Deck Series: Battle For Meridell
Promo Card: No
How rare is this card? From the three boxes of cards that I bought I only got two of these. That doesnt mean that it's rare, just that I didnt get the usual four or five cards that seemed to be the norm with other picks from the Battle For Meridell boxes. This isnt a high priced card, most places are selling it for twenty cents in mint condition. The cards are well made so even if you are going to use it in a tournament or game event, as long as you store them properly when you are done, the cards will look great. Since I only got two of these I tucked one away and used one for gaming. I havent played in a while but I still keep the cards around to flip through and get a few laughs here and there.

Since this is a Something Has Happened hard there are no stats for it. The most powerful thing about this card is that it slows down an opponent and could really mess up their overall game plan. You do need to have a Fire Neopet in order to use this so consider that when you are picking out your cards for the event. There are other Something Has Happened cards that you can use that will give your opponent a little shiver down the spine but to me, this is one of the best ones to have if you are playing a Fire pet.

Directions: If you have a Fire Neopet in play you can use this card against your opponent. When in play you can remove a Food Item card from the other person's bank and discard it. I'd say if you are going to play this, choose the food item with the highest number of points to it. The highest number I've manage to yank from someone is a three pointer, that was a great play and the other person was totally not expecting it.

Even though I only got two of these from three boxes of cards, I still can't say that this is a rare card. Any site or person that is trying to sell it for more than a quarter is trying to rip you off. You can buy this at most of the larger online stores that sell individual cards but most of the time they have a minimum number of cards you have to buy or a base price of $5.00 for an order. Is this worth buying? It can be if you want to have something to trump other players and throw them an unexpected curve.
If you want some other Something Has Happened cards from the Battle For Meridell series, these are some interesting ones to collect:
95/140 "Skarl's Banquet" 95/140
123/140 Feeding Mr. Scary
126/140 "Locked In The Dungeon" 126/140

You can have a lot of fun with this card if you are into the various Neopet sponsored events or if you just want to have it to complete a deck. If you are going to trade this for another card make sure you are getting something of equal or better value. I might trade a few of my other multiples for a few of these just so I can have a couple of completed decks in mint condition but for now I'm pretty happy with the two that I have.
As always, thanks for the visit
