The Bottom Line: A common card in the "Something Has Happened" series but nice to have nonetheless.

| Freak369's Full Review: Neopets Trading Card Game Battle for Meridell Comm... |
Neopet TCG [Trading Card Game] cards started out simple and became complex; so much so that I stopped trying to collect them all and started buying boxes of them when I found them at a good price. I started off with the cards that were featured in the Battle For Meridell series and eventually amassed over six hundred cards. I played the game at events that were held at local toy stores in San Diego but have since retired? Why? Have you ever been beaten by a six year old at a trading card game? It isn't a very fun experience.
The basic premise of the Neopet TCG is to battle in various contests based on four themes; Agility, Intelligence, Magic and Strength. When you have accumulated 21 points in Items and Equipment into your 'bank' [stash of cards]. If you are the first to complete this, you win the game. That is a very simplified version of how the game is played. It took me about a week to actually learn to play the game and I was extremely close to giving up on it and then it all 'clicked' and I understood the rules. Once you get past the slightly overwhelming rules and game set up [at least for it me was] it is a lot of fun if you find people that are into the game itself.
Locked In The Dungeon Master Vex 126/140
This isn't a very high priced card; if you are looking to buy it outside of the original package format you can find it for about .20 - .40 cents depending on who is selling it and the condition of it. It is a no frills card that looks nice but has no perks to it. If you buy a box of cards chances are you will get this one at least two to three times; it isnt extremely rare so that's why the price hasn't increased on it.
Imagery: The card itself is very dark and shows Master Vex locked away in his own dungeon in the Darigan Citadel. This is irony at its best because he is the warden of the prison yet he finds himself locked away without a key or even an escape route. There are a lot of intrinsic things to the card; the three pieces of silver and three pieces of gold on the game board, bright sunshine blasting through the cell window and the unmistakable grimace on his face. If you are into collecting cards of Vex, be sure to get number 329 in the Mynci species that shows him playing yet another game of Cellblock with a Korbat that obviously lost and was subsequently tied up.
How exactly did Vex end up in his own prison? This deviates from the original storyline of TCG but if you followed the Battle For Meridell you would know that Vex and Galgarroth defied orders by Lord Kass; when Lord Darigan returned to power he was released and reinstated to his former position.

This is a "Something Has Happened Card"; it is not played or used the same way as other cards. Once it is used it is discarded. Almost all of the cards that have this title have a dark purple border to the backs of them so you can tell almost immediately that they are different from the Equipment, Hero, Villain or Location cards. The first time I came across this I was completely confused and had to break out the TCG rulebook to look it up and see how it is played correctly. You have to have a Water pet [Kikos or Quiggles work best] for this to work correctly.
Year Released: 2004
Series Number: 126 / 140
Directions: To play or use this card you need to have a Water pet; play the card when the vent starts then choose a Hero and return it to the owner's hard. This is a nice card to have in the hole for when you need to trump a player but once it is used it is discarded.
Quote: "I should have spent less time playing Cellblock and more time building secret escape routes"

If you want to get some of the other "Something Has Happened" cards in the Meridell deck, here are some solid suggestions:
120/140: Crop Failure
123/140: Feeding Mr. Scary
130/140: Protect The Village
134/140: Shooting Star
The Bottom Line
This is a nice basic card to have for playing the TCG but it isn't a necessity. Compared to the other "Something Has Happened" cards this one lacks a lot of detail and doesn't look all that 'cool'. Even so, having Vex behind bars where he has sent so many other Neopets is nice. The good points are that it can be played with any pet in the Water species and it is nice to spring on an opponent. The downside, and this goes for all the "SHH" cards is that once it is used, it is discarded. For collectors this is a necessity to complete a deck but I wouldnt pay more than a quarter for it in mint condition.
As always, thanks for the visit
