| Freak369's Full Review: Neopets Trading Card Game Battle for Meridell Comm... |
Some people have said that the Neopet website resorts to using too many magical elements in their gameplay and themes. Yes, there are potions that you can use to heal pets when they lose points in the Battledome Arena or when they get sick and there are also potions that you can use to transform your pets from one color or species to another. Kids arent learning how to mix potions [but that would be cool to have a Mixing Pot type of deal so you could blend potions] or doing anything wrong but the word magic does unsettle some people. The TCG came under fire for being too violent, something that I laughed at when I first caught wind of it. All of the TCG events I have attended have been a lot of fun and have had kids of all ages as well as a lot of adults all interacting in a safe environment. The aspect of magic at the website is minimal but to me it allows kids [and adults] to use their imagination, have some fun and learn about the different worlds of Neopets.
Neopet TCG "Petpet Growth Syrup 129/140
Imagery: If you are a fan of the Turtum petpet then this is the card for you. Not only do you get the adult version but the baby version too; something that is pretty rare to see at the site. The card shows the larger and smaller Turtum near one of Kayla's potion bottles, whether they knocked it over accidentally or on purpose is unclear but once the Turtum started drinking it, there was no stopping it. Kayla is rather protective of her potions so you can image what a rage she went into when she saw that the Turtum drank the Petpet Growth Syrup before she perfected it. The colors are plain but the green glow of the potion seeping out of the bottle is what makes the card visually appealing.

Wow, this is an amazing card to play at any point in the game, 5 for all abilities. That can really knock players back for a round or two and as I said, it is a card that you can play at any point in the game but it is always nice to use it to knock payers out or to go over the 21 points needed to win. I have only had a chance to play this a few times but when I did it was a compete success and the other player let out a huge groan when the points were added up. You can use this when your stats are low or when you could really use the other two banking points for items. Another nice thing is that the only restriction on the card is that you have to have a Petpet in play.

Directions: To make use of this card you have to have a Petpet in the event, any Petpet will do. The real bonus here is the 2 that you get for the card, reach 21 points and you win the event. Because this is considered a common card by the Neopet rankings it is something that should appear in packs and boxes rather often but that wasn't the case for me. Out of the boxes and packs that I have purchased I have only managed to get two of these. It figures, one of the cards with high stats and 2 for banking and I only end up with two of them. I guess that's better than only getting one of them so I probably shouldnt complain too loudly.
Quote: "They knew Kayla would shout at them for messing with her experiments, but it just tasted sooo yummy" In regards to the Turtum, well, it looks like a cross between a turtle and a armadillo but that's just my take on them. Their quote is rather straightforward and to the point, "A stout, loyal little fellow that loves a game of Bullseye in the evening"
If you play at the website you can get the virtual card on the Trading Post, it has a rarity of r101 so more than likely you have to get this from a random event at the site. You can check the Shop Wizard for the best price but you have to enter "Petpet Growth Syrup (TCG)" into the search string or you will end up with results for the Petpet Growth Syrup Stamp; while it is a nice item, it isn't a TCG item. If you are a fan of the Turtum you can purchase one in the Ye Olde Petpets shop. Getting one in the shop is hard but since there are none listed on the Shop Wizard that is your only choice outside of the Trading Post but with an index of r96 most prices are in the 110,000 NP range. Related onsite items of interest include: "Kaylas Little Pick Me Up", "Kayla Usuki Doll", "Turtum Coin", "Turtum Shell Quiggle Chestplate", "Kaylas Silver Brew", "Kaylas Super Special Potion".
To get a better look at this card you can look in your TCG album or at the checklist for the Battle For Meridell cards. An even simpler way would be to cut and paste this URL into your browser:

The Bottom Line
This is classified as a common card in the Battle For Meridell deck but I didnt have much luck getting more than two of them. If you are looking to stock up on these and want to buy them from a card dealer you can expect to pay .25 to .35 cents for a mint condition one. I have seen these selling on eBay for a dollar or more and that is a rip off. Take the money they you would e spending on an auction and save it up to buy some packs. Because of the 5 for all abilities and the 2 for the item bank this is a great card to try to get in multiples. If you were going to trade for it you might have to give up a Holofoil or some type of high stat card but if you have multiples of them, to me, it is more than worth it.
As always, thanks for the visit
