| Freak369's Full Review: Neopets Trading Card Game Battle for Meridell Comm... |
The Neopet TCG isn't something that most Neopians are into; they will collect the virtual cards at the site for their deck or album or when needed for the occasional Faerie Quest but the real world version of the game plays out a little differently. You have four arenas to play in, points to collect and battles to be won. It isn't a complicated game to learn but if you have card events in your area [these are few and far between until a new deck or theme is released] you can hit them and get some pointers from more experienced players. Of course, being an adult it can be hard to take such advice from someone who is ten. The TCG cards are fun to collect as well as use for events but there are more than a few places online that are just waiting to rip you off on single card sales.
Neopet TCG Pupplyblew 131/140
Imagery: The card is made up mostly of a very cute looking Puppyblew digging a hole to bury yet another bone. Instead of the usual blue color used at the website for the petpet, this is a sort of purplish blue but it still looks great. In the background there is a smaller Pupplyblew making its way over the hill but that's about all there is to the card. Some greenery, a part of a tree and an orange sunset make up the background but for the most part, this is a pretty tame card. The playability of it is another story; some might see it as a card that you can't play without but to me, well, its a nice card to have but I am not trading anything of value for it.
Deck Series: Battle For Meridell
Promo Card: No
Strength: +2
Agility: +2
Magic: +3
Intelligence: +2
The Pupplyblew card is considered a 'common' card according to Neopet standards. It isnt that hard to find in boxes and single packs and from the ones that I have purchased I have managed to collect seven duplicates. The stats on it are average but the trump here is that you can play this card without raising too many eyebrows but if you use it wisely you will be able to bank two points towards the goal of twenty one and add some Strength and Magic to your pet. The beauty of this is that you do not have to have a specific [Fire, Water, Air, Earth etc] type of pet to attach this to.
Year Released: 2004
Series Number: 131/140

Banking this card will give you a +2 towards the total of 21 points that you need to win the game. While this might not be the easiest card to work into a match [because it is a basic card that won't do much to protect your pet], it is something that most players wont see as a threat so it does give you a slight advantage when you are trying to sneak in a few points here and there. If I were playing this in an event I wouldn't wait until the end of the game because you could make use of the +3 Magic and +2 Agility earlier in the game.
Directions: You don't need to wait until a specific point in the game, be in a certain arena or have a specific pet equipped, all you need do to use this card is tap it to your pet when you have your turn.
Quote: "Puppyblews eat almost anything, and they LOVE children". That might make you wonder if they are into eating kids or if they are just always hungry. The sinister side of me would love to think that they might give a kid a nibble, especially if they are being bad, but I doubt the creators of Neopets would ever openly admit that as an alternative agenda to such a cute looking critter. If you look it up at the website you'll learn that the Puppyblew also loves to fetch, why that wasn't added to the card is beyond me. If you want to buy a Pupplyblew petpet for your Neopet you can find them sold in the Neopian Petpet Shop or on the Shop Wizard for about 4,000 NP.
If you are into the Neopet website there are some very cool items that you can get that are associated with the Puppyblew, Yellow Puppyblew Flying Disc, Puppyblew Balloon Usuki Puppyblew Set and in the real world you can get the Mini Puppyblew Plushie at Limited II stores and online. To get a better look at this card you can check your TCG album at the website or cut and paste this URL into your browser:

The Bottom Line
This isn't a rare card so don't fall into the trap that some online card dealers try to throw at you. This card has a selling price of about .20 cents and that is if it is in mint condition with no surface marring. The simplicity of this card is what makes it worth collecting and playing in events and if you are a fan of the Pupplyblew species then it's nice to have the card for the imagery. You get to see a glimpse of the Pupplyblews overall attitude by the small smirk on its face and it's a nice card to play early in the game to build up your stats without drawing a lot of attention to your overall gameplan.
As always, thanks for the visit
