| Freak369's Full Review: Neopets Trading Card Game Battle for Meridell Comm... |
The knights and warriors of Meridell are always striving to be the best that they can be but they refuse to take the easy way out or resort to dirty, underhanded tactics. The TCG card for the "Regulation Chainmail" is one of the many cards I the Battle For Meridell series that shows the distinct separation between the good and evil of the two battling sides. I was not into battling when the this war broke out at the website but I did profit greatly from selling potions, weapons, armor, healing potions and other battle related items. In regards to using this during TCG events, I have use it more than more equipment cards but since I have only managed to collect two of them I am careful with who I choose to play the card against.
Neopet TCG "Regulation Chainmail" 132/140
Imagery: If you are just into collecting the TCG cards for their artwork then this is definitely one to look into getting because of the detail and the bright Meridell colors on the clothing and the shield. When you first see the card you are going to pick out the obvious stuff like the droopy boot linings and folded shirt on the bed but when you really start looking at it you will see the slight cracks and splinters in the floor, breaks in the bricks and the surrounding furniture. If all the cards in the series were this detailed I am sure a lot more people would be collecting them. It might not have a lot of color to it but it is rich in that old Meridell charm.
Deck Series: Battle For Meridell
Promo Card: No
Strength: +4
Agility: N/A
Magic: N/A
Intelligence: +3
One of the biggest perks to this card is the +2 for banking it. Since it is an equipment card it is used to build up your personal bank of points; you need to collect 21 of them to win the game and every one of them helps. Some player might say that this card isnt worth adding to a deck because it is only two points but you also have to consider that you are getting a +4 for Strength and a +3 for Intelligence. Couple that with the fact that you dont have to have a specific [Fire, Air, Water, Experienced etc] per to make use of this and you have a card that can be added to almost any type of deck theme and allow newer players the chance to get their footing and learn the ins and outs of the game without having to risk high value cards in the process.
Year Released: 2004

According to the Neopet TCG listing this is considered a "common" or "C" class card. I would love to know who gave it that rating and ranking because from all the decks and packs I have purchased I have only come across two of them. When you compare this to other 'common' equipment cards it is average in regards to game ply but the art work does help to make it a bit more attractive to collectors. This comes in at the end of the deck series, that shouldn't have anything to do with the frequency of how often you get it in decks or boxes but others that I have talked to about the TCG and cards that they are missing or only have a few of, "Regulation Chainmail" seems to be a "common" card that is extremely rare to come across.
Directions: This is a basic equipment card so it doesnt require that you have a specific type of pet or that t needs to be played in a certain arena. To use this just tap one of your pets and that's it. It is a very easy card to play and something that is great for beginners to use.
Quote: "Although subterfuge and trickery were the weapons of their enemies, the Meridellians preferred to fight with good, honest steel". The quote of the card really sums up the wholesome attitude of the citizens of Meridell; well, most of them. When the cyber battle broke out it saw both sides using all their skills and weaponry to try and win, sadly it also saw a lot of undermining and devious battle plans.
The artwork on this is what really makes it nice to have, even if you do play the TCG at events, this is the type of card that you see and really pay attention to it. Since the image here can not be enlarged, you can view the full sized one by visiting your TCG album at the website or by cutting and pasting this URL into your browser:

If you game at the site, there are a lot of very cool Meridell items that you can by as well as some very impressive weapons, some of my favorite picks for both include the "Ye Old Meridellian Vocabulary Workbook", "Meridell Shield Stamp", "Meridellian Potion of Defense", "Regulation Meridellian Lowers", "Regulation Meridellian Helmet", "Regulation Meridellian Shield", "Escape From Meridell Castle", "Meridellian Chocolate Milk Glass" and "Meridell Bucket And Spade Set". Those are just a few of the common items that you can find at the site, remember, the rare, special and retired items will not show up in queries does on the Shop Wizard.
The Bottom Line
For me its the artwork and design of the card that makes me want to get a few more for my deck as well as to keep for future gaming. The stats on it arent anything that are all that impressive but it is a nice way to add two points to your bank and increase Intelligence and Strength. This is a basic card that new players can use with ease and something that can't be used against them if they happen to play it at the wrong time. The average selling price for this is in the .20 to .30 cent range, anything more than that and you are getting ripped off. If you ever see a card that seems like it is overpriced be sure to check the TCG album and checklist to see what the classification of it is. Do not go by the listing of the virtual cards at the site as they are for the cyber cards, not the ones in the 'real world' TCG deck.
As always, thanks for the visit
