Pros: It's a common card but gives you 2 for your Uni.
Cons: Can be overpriced, misrepresented at several online card sites.
The last card in the Neopet Trading Card Game Battle For Meridell deck is the Uni Charm. Personally I would have ended the series with something a little more interesting but I just write the reviews. The Neopet TCG was a huge thing when the cards were first released and there were events held at most of the larger toy stores. In San Diego there were weekly gatherings where attendees could get free cards, learn about new decks and supplemental packs and get some pointers from advanced players. These were free events that were great for players to attend and one of the few times you saw adults and kids playing a TCG without there being a lot of arrogance and snobbery being tossed around. The Uni Charm is a great looking card but it is something that an advanced player can really use to trump someone who is holding their own but on the edge of losing their position in the Strength arena.
Imagery: First off, this is not a Holofoil card and there are no Holofoil aspects to it. A few sites have this listed that the sparkle on the Uni horn has a shimmer to it, it doesn't. If it does then it has been modified or something has been added to it. The Uni Charm is to be worn in battle for good luck but it can also be worm as a snappy accessory. The light blue cloud filled background of the card looks great with the Uni Charm on a thin cold necklace; it's a nice card to give a 2 boost to Strength but most people will want to have this one in their collection because it is the last card in the deck.
Deck Series: Battle For Meridell
Promo Card: No
Year Released: 2004
Series Number: 140/140
Equipment | Charm
Directions: This can be played on any Uni Neopet so while it is limited to the Uni species it can be played on any type of Uni. When this is played it gives your Uni a 2 in Strength but that's it. There are no other boosts for Agility, Intelligence or Magic. This can be a good card to tap when you need your Uni to be stronger but because it lacks any other type of stat, it can work against you if you come across an opponent that has a higher Magic or Agility. This card has a three point level to it [the gold token in the corner] so it counts towards the 21 points that are needed to eventually win the game. In this respect this is an awesome card to play but it has to stay attached to your Uni in order for it to be effective.
Quote: "Tucking it under his armour, Sir Darges confessed, "I never go into battle without it""
What can you expect to pay for one of these cards if you can't find it in a pack or box? The suggested list price is .20 cents but some stores are going to try ad say that it is a rare card. I purchased three boxes of cards and ended up with three cards; one way used in game play and two were stored away so they would be in mint condition. What would I pay for this card? No more than a quarter and that's if it is in mint condition. Visually the card looks great and it's a nice thing to get for people who collect the Uni species but there are limitations to it and what you can do with it within a game. Why would dealers try to inflate the price? They did it with the first card in the series [The bat Thing 1/140] and tried it with this one since it is the last in the 140 of 140 cards.

The Bottom Line
If you collect the cards in the Battle For Meridell or know someone that does, this is a great card to look for. Aside from the appearances of it, it can be used for a 2 Strength. Learning the rules of the Neopet Trading Card Game can take some time but if you are into TCG's then there are a lot of really cool decks and themes to choose from. I would have preferred something with a little more kick to close out this deck but as I said before, I just write the reviews.
As always, thanks for the visit
